Such positive comments posted, and equally positive comments from very good friends of mine, so I'm taking my courage in both hands and booking with Just You to go to Spain in May - the Andalucia trip. I've travelled alone, internationally, and know that I love doing that, and I'm happy to mooch by myself by day, but I hate the thought of sitting at mealtimes on my own, or going down to the bar for an evening. I fear I might just stay in my room!

Here goes, though!

Glad to help Daphne. The only problem was that I got very badly bitten - by the travel bug! Holiday No.6 coming up in May.

Happy travelling,

Sylvia

Hello,

First of all you will not eat alone - secondly, don't sit in your room - go to the bar - you'll miss so much otherwise.

Hi this was my 1st JY tour five years ago and I'm just about to do my 10th! You will be fine at mealtimes - at dinner, the tour manager will reserve some tables in the dining room for the group and if your group is like mine, many will be retiring to the bar after dinner! I hope you have a great time.

Best wishes,

Bob

Good to read this post, am looking forward to my first one alone. My lovely husband passed away three years ago, and I have been taking my granddaughter away for the last three years. It is now time to bite the bullet and do this on my own, so it is good to know that others have found it a good experience. Floridla in Nov here I come !!!

 have been thinking about travelling alone for some time now, friends and family are not interested in the tours I want to take, but till now have always been a bit apprehensive and honestly a bit scared of taking the plunge. Having now found JY and reading all your positive and encouraging comments, am definitely going to book a holiday as soon as I can.

I'm a brand new member & have not booked a holiday yet as I've never been on holiday on my own before & I'm very nervous of travelling on my own. Reading these posts has inspired me slightly but I still lack the courage to actually book anything.

Every JY traveller had to book that very first holiday and if you find it is not for you what have you lost. A few days of your life and some money. BUT if it works for you, you will be seeing the world with like minded people, some of who could be new friends and you won't be on your own unless you want to be. Start small with a short trip not too far from home so that you don't feel overwhelmed and don't be scared of saying it is your first time - all the holidays I have been on first timers are really looked after by the rest of the group. Go for it.

Hi All,

I have just found this great website and have been reading through the posts which are very reassuring.

I live in Australian and am planning a trip to UK & Europe in October this year. The first couple of weeks I will be travelling with a friend and then for the last two weeks will be travelling solo. I am thinking about spending some time in Bruges & Amsterdam.

Previously I have travelled to South America, Ireland, France, Spain and Italy as well as the usual places that Australian's go - Bali, Malaysia and Fiji.

Anyways, the holiday is still some time away, but I will definitely be checking in here to look for tips and other peoples stories.

cheers

Lea

Hi Sharon

Not sure why you are still lacking the courage to go ahead and book something. If you really want to go somewhere, then have a look to see what is on offer, choose a place you always wanted to see and book it. Life is too short and you have to try and make most of each day. I can assure you that you will enjoy your first Just You holiday. If you are so unsure, then just book a short City break to see how you like it.

I am also really nervous! I am newly separated from my husband so my worry is how I'll feel experiencing a holiday alone rather than with someone. I know there will be a group but I worry that when I see something amazing or wonderful, I'll be very aware that I used to share these things with him! I am so close to booking a 5 day break in Italy but something keeps stopping me. I keep coming back to the page to read reviews and experiences and I hope to find the courage to click the 'book now' button!

Hi Rach

Don't worry about not being able to share something amazing or wonderful - you will be able to do so with one or some of your fellow Just You travellers. Do go ahead and book the 5 day break and see how it goes. You will be amazed and will want to book another holiday on your return.

Good luck - do let us know once you have booked.

Jaya

Hi,

I always take the time to talk to newbies on holidays as i know it can be nervous however i have honestly never met anybody that felt left out. Normally noone knows anybody else on this trip and you are all in the same boat but what you all ultimately have in common is you are both going to enjoy the holiday.

I am still in contact with people i have met.

Thanks

Mark
