Hi jacky, thanks for that I have now booked it also for the8th at 2.10. I haven't booked the San Francisco cruise yet was wondering whether to wait until I get there . I've not booked anything for Vegas yet but I wonder if anyone fancies going to Fremont st. It's a short bus/taxi ride but is a really good night out. There are bands playing outside, bars also outside and there are really good laser shows on every 10-15 mins.

Hi Joy

I've looked at the website and you can still book tickets, many of us have already done so and only takes a few minutes

Hi

if you do a posting on the editors board asking to exchange email addresses then Julia can sort this out. You both will have to post giving your permission OK.

Hi Joy. I do not know Heathrow Airport whatsoever. I have not flown from here before. Do any other "trippers" know of any good places to meet in Terminal 5?

Here's hoping for a reply.

Hi Joyce

I've been to Heathrow T5 a few times (last time was for my JY trip to Berlin). There is quite a lot of seating around Pret, but this gets quite busy so it could difficult to find each other. My other suggestion would be the JD Weatherspoon which has quite a large sitting area and its waitress service for hot drinks and breakfast, rather than self service.

Hi Julia / Tim,

I'm trying to decide which Grand Canyon trip to go for. Can you tell me how many have booked so far on each option? Also, can we pay for the Grand Canyon trip by credit card once we get there? (I'm sure I read somewhere that we could.)

Many thanks. Annette

Hi Annette, current bookings for each of the options are:

PBW-1 = 3

SBG-4 = 2

PBW-4 = 3

SBW-5 = 2

SBW-5K = 3

SBW-1 = 1

They can be paid for in resort by credit card.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi David/Janet (and anyone else reading), just seen your posts that you are both going on the America Golden West Trip. I am going too and would like to see Alcatraz but also didnt want to do it on my own, perhaps I can come with you both? I have already booked on the Harbour cruise, but havent booked any others. Are either of you (or anyone else reading this arranging to meeting up at terminal 5 before our flight?)if so let me know it would be lovely to meet people before we get on the plane. Havent decided yet what else to do yet in any free time so would love to find someone (or people) to explore the sights with.

Me again, having read some more threads i have seen some of you have booked the Alcatraz trip at 2.10pm on the 8th so i have just gone on line to book my ticket! (easy to do) Iam looking forward to this holiday but was abit worried about being on my own in the free time but having read more threads i'm hoping i will get to know everyone on the trip and have people to do things with. Is anyone staying at the Comfort hotel the night before?

Hi Claire - Welcome aboard!

Looks like we should have quite a few people coming on the Alcatraz trip so should be good fun - lets hope they let us out afterwards!!! Have heard its a very good rip from others who have been on it before. I'm certainly looking forward to the holiday - only two weeks to go.

The free time is always a bit of a concern and I'm sure we'll be able to do some things together, when I went to Berlin on my first JY trip in June, we quickly made friends and someone make a suggestion. Our TM also organised a few extra trips that weren't shown on the itinerary, which also filled the time, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

I'm going straight to Heathrow from home as I only live a few miles from the airport so hope to meet up in departures - probably start off with a bacon sandwich at the JD Weatherspoon's pub to save having breakfast at home.

Looking forward to seeing everyone

Hi Julia/Tim

I've been looking at restaurants in SF as I really fancy trying the crab/seafood on Pier 39 as its a short walk from the hotel and I'm a bit of a foodie and try and avoid hotel restaurants

I was wondering what sort of time we are likely to get the hotel on day 1 as I was thinking about the need to book?

A couple of restaurants that look good are

http://www.crabhouse39.com/

http://fogharbor.com/

and wondered if you'd had any feedback from previous JY'ers

Anyone else on this trip fancy dinner out on the first day??

Hi everyone

I'm still debating about Alcatraz, as I'm not too good on boats and I'm not sure if it's likely to be a choppy ferry ride. Also, I saw prison cells and graphic details of torture in the Pol Pot regime when I went to Cambodia last year, and don't particularly want to repeat the experience.

There don't seem to be very many booked on the Grand Canyon option yet, so I'm wondering if we can leave it till we get there, to see what most people are doing, or whether it's likely to get booked up and we should book in advance.

I'm going to book the Universal tour, and I like the sound of the Michael Jackson tribute, but it seems that no-one else does!

Shall we take up David's suggestion and meet at the Wetherspoons? We can identify each other by our JY labels as long as we remember to put one on our hand baggage.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi Claire

I would love to meet up before the flight and should be at terminal 5 by 930 if this would be convenient for you or anyone else who wants to meet up.

I'll be flying down from Aberdeen on the red eye - due at Terminal 5 around 8.30, so will try to look out for you at Wetherspoons. Re trips - I'm going for the SF bay cruise and Universal Studios. Think I'll pas on the Vegas shows we are offered and will probably do the Grand Celebration Heli tour and also fancy the Hoover Dam trip but think I'll book them when I get there and see what everyone else is doing. Not long to go now!
