I have just heard from Just You and it appears that their computer has booked me from Manchester even though they are not offering this option in May, so now I am rebooked to fly from Gatwick!

I am now investigating the options of how to get down from Halifax as British Airways (or any other airline) now do not fly from Manchester or Leeds/Bradford to Gatwick so I would have to go to Heathrow and then transfer over to Gatwick. I may possibly come down on National Express the day before. Although this is a long coach journey it does mean that I don't have to drive which I would prefer not to do, especially after a long flight back from China. Have you had any thoughts of where you might stay the night before, we could possibly meet up then?

Sorry to hear they messed you about with your flights but, being selfish, it is good to know that we will both be going from Gatwick!! Just You got me booked into The Gatwick Acorn Lodge Hotel, 79 Massetts Road, Horley, Surrey. RH6 7EB. 01293 774550. It might be worth giving the hotel a ring to see if they have any spaces left. The other alternative is to maybe see if there is either a Travel Lodge or Premier Inn near or around Horley. It would be ideal if you could get into the same hotel. Although I have done a JY holiday before it would be nice to have some company before we jet off!! The night before that holiday we were all booked into the same hotel. Maybe if we can get our timings synchronised we could meet up before we head off for our hotel/s and also meet up for a meal in the evening.

I will be coming down by train but apparently they will come and collect me from the station. As this is my first time travelling on holiday alone it will be good to be with someone who has done this before.

I plan to prebook my ticket on line which will give the timings. I live in Doncaster and am thinking of booking the same trip and also will probably travel to Gatwick the day before. I haven't been abroad on my own before but am definitely going to take the plunge this year as there are lots of places I want to vsit.

Thanks for the information. I think an overnight stop in Gatwick seems favourable as this is my first JY holiday and I have not flown for quite a few years so expect I will see some differences at the airport and might appreciate some hand holding!!! Will let you know when I book.

There seems to be a few birthday people on this trip. I am celebrating my 65th birthday next week so you could call this a special birthday present too.

So glad you've got in touch again. I was only thinking about you the other day!!

Like you, I was wondering how we could get in touch with each other apart from the website and I also will be booking my ticket when the cheaper fares come into play. As I said before I am more than happy to sit and people watch if my train gets in before yours. If we are able to swap mobile phone numbers that will help us to locate each other.

I have been reading some of the posts and it looks as though there are 10 of us to date and, no doubt, there will be few more by the time the holiday arrives.
