Hi Pauline,

I have just received my paperwork for China and realised that I had wrongly assumed that I would fly down to Gatwick from Manchester and join you there, but that isn't the case. I will be flying from Manchester to Abu Dhabi and from there to Bejing. So will see you in Bejing!

Best wishes

Pauline

Hi Pauline,

Oh that's a shame. Never mind, I will look forward to meeting up with you when I arrive in Bejing. We can still have our chats here nonetheless. Happy Planning!!

Hi Pauline

I am thinking of booking this trip and trying to work out easiest way of travelling as I live in East Yorkshire. Is it possible for you to let me know flight times from Manchester as this is much closer for me than Gatwick and it might help me make up my mind! I've been in touch with JY but they were unable to give me any details.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

I can't understand why JY aren't being helpful on this matter as they are usually pretty good!! It's a bit confusing as there are 2 Paulines' going on the trip!! The other Pauline is Pauline71 and I believe she is flying from Manchester and meeting us in Beijing. It would be great to know someone else in going on the trip too!!

Hi Chris,

I am the Pauline from Yorkshire!

The flight from Manchester leaves at 9.25 a.m. on 22 May. The returning flight gets in to Manchester at 15.05 on 7 June. This isn't very helpful for you either is it, it would be an early start!

Best wishes

Hi Pauline, Thanks for getting in touch with Chris. I suppose the other alternative is to come down to Gatwick the day before 21st May and stay overnight in a hotel which is what I am doing. I live in hertfordshire and didn't want the stress of getting stuck in any traffic jams!!

Hi to both Paulines!!!!

Thanks for the information. I think an overnight stop in Gatwick seems favourable as this is my first JY holiday and I have not flown for quite a few years so expect I will see some differences at the airport and might appreciate some hand holding!!! Will let you know when I book.

Thanks again

Chris

Hi Chris,

If you let me know when and where you are staying at Gatwick maybe we could meet up so that we can hold hands together!!!!!! Even if we aren't staying at the same hotel (which I doubt) we may be able to find each other and help with bus transfers etc!!

Hi Pauline

That sounds like a great idea. I have just posted another thread to check on weather in China and if end of May is not too hot I will definitely be booking. Will let you know

Best wishes

Hi Pauline

Not sure if you received my reply as it does not seem to be on this thread! Your idea seems great. I have posted another question on the site to find out about climate in April/May as I do not like the weather to be TOO hot and would like to avoid the rain. If all seems OK for May and I book I will let you know.

Best wishes

Hi Chris,

Sorry I have been offline for a while. My elderly aunt has recently passed away and I have been on the Isle of Wight sorting things out!! I have checked the website for the weather in China and it seems that it could be around between 26 - 30 degress depending on whereabouts we are!! I hope that isn't going to be too hot for you. If you Google Weather in China you will get a rough idea of temperatures and what to wear when!! Hope this is helpful as it would be good to have a fellow traveller.

Bye for now.

Pauline from Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Hi.

I've just booked this holiday. It'll be my first JY holiday, and my first solo overseas trip since my early 20s. I'll be 53 by the time the holiday comes round, so that was quite a long time ago!.

Hi SMW,

It's great to know there are others going on the trip. We will actually be landing on the day of my 60th birthday (one of the reasons for booking!!). It will be great getting to know you. Are you going down to Gatwick on the day or staying there the night before?

Hi PaulineD

I'll probably travel down by train on the day, because the flight's not until early afternoon.

I hope its a happy birthday, !

Hello Pauline,

I am almost on the last step to booking on that date, just need to sort my insurance out. It should be fun with two Pauline's on the same trip! Have you booked on the Yangtze trip too?

Pauline

Hi Pauline71. I've booked the Yangtze trip. Anyone else ?

Hi pauline, No, I haven't booked on the Yangtze trip as it meant trying to get more time off work but part of me wishes I had done now!!

Hi Steve,

Well Steve, it looks like it's just you and me so far on the cruise! This is going to be very confusing for everyone with two Pauline's.

Look forward to hearing from everyone over the coming months.

Hi Pauline,

Ha ha

I think we will have to come up with nicknames for ourselves!!

What do you fancy?

Hi Pauline,

Well you have me stumped now! In all my 64 years I have never been called anything but Pauline so I am going to have to have a think about this. I am sure other people will come up with some names to differentiate between us but maybe they might not be as flattering as we would like!

Anyway I will be giving this a lot of thought!

Have a good Christmas and New Year, once that is over we will be on the home straight.

Best wishes

Pauline

I've been called all sorts of things in my many years!!!!!

Perhaps I will choose one of the better ones and you can be the Pauline of the trip!!

I hope you have a Good Christmas and New Year and look forward to counting down the days in the New Year. It is almost unbelievable to think that we will be there 6 months today!!!!!!!
