Hello Fellow Travellers.

Well only a couple of weeks to go now and I'm starting to panic about what to take and what not to take!! I don't want to fill my case with things that I won't be wearing or using. Is there anyone out there that has been on this trip recently and can help ease my troubled mind?!?

I'm about as much use as an ash tray on a motorbike when it comes to packing and this is my first long haul flight.

Many Thanks in advance.

Hi Pauline, I'm afraid I'm not doing this tour so probably won't be much help. I wasn't going to answer, then I saw you didn't have any replies (this might have changed by the time this appears), so thought I'd throw in a few comments. The best thing you can do is google the climate in the main places you'll be visiting - Beijing, Shanghai etc as China is a huge country, I imagine the climate will vary a bit from place to place. However, I'd say it would be warm to hot in most places and probably quite humid as well - so lightweight clothes t shirts, shorts etc with warmer clothes for the evenings. Don't forget to check if you need DEET, insect repellent etc for the places you'll be visiting. Hope this helps!

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your reply. I know it's each individuals choice of what to wear but I just wanted a bit of a clue!! Maybe people think I should be old enough to decide for myself!! You have been a great help. I've got my DEET and other items and a good supply of loo roll!!!!!!!

Hi again, sounds like you're well prepared - I've heard the loo roll comes in VERY handy in China!!

Have a great trip,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Have spent the whole weekend scouring the countryside for flat pack toitlet paper (makes a change from flat pack furniture) and eventually managed to find it in one of the major supermarkets. So I think I'm all set and just counting down the days now!!

Hi Sim

Yes, no problem. My intention is to write a daily journal (I have the memory of a peanut!!) and so I will try and write something on my return.

Not long to go now and I am getting excited if not a bit nervous!!

It has helped that I have linked up with another Pauline who going on the same trip and we are going to stay in the same hotel the night before which is great.

Hi Pauline.

I haven't got any tips as I'm in the same situation as you, but I'm looking forward to meeting you. I'm staying in the Premier Inn the night before, but won't get there until after 10, so I'll probably see you in the airport on the 22nd.

Its amazing China seems to produce everything cheaply but seems to lack toilet paper or keeps it for its nationals. Export opportunity

for the UK 🙂
