At the end of the Kerala trip it appears that you spend a couple of days by the beach in Kovolam. I am definitely not a beach person and this is the only thing putting me off booking this trip. Please could you tell me if there is anything else to do in Kovolam other than relaxing on the beach/by the pool? Thanks, Jan

I have spoken with my colleagues and they have informed me that there are 2 popular excursions from Kovalam as under:

Kanyakumari day trip :

Price: £135 which includes an ac Toyota inova car which can take 2 people & an English speaking guide.

Not included in price is entrance fee – £10 per person

Half day city tour of Trivandrum :

Price: £73 which includes an ac Toyota inova car which can take 2 people & an English speaking guide.

Not included in price is entrance fee – £2 per person

That's good to know, as I can't lie around in the sun and this was putting me off Kerala as well.  I do think that whenever a few days at a beach are part of a JY itinerary there should always be optional excursions available every day.  I would love to visit somewhere exotic like St Lucia but it appears that there are only a few excursions on offer and I would be at a loss for what to do for most of the holiday.

When I did this trip last year, I did not go on the beach but spent time in the Spa having wonderful Ayurvedic treatments. I too am not a beach person but it is a nice relaxing end to the trip.
