I'm thinking of booking the Kenyan Safari: Kilimanjaro to Masai Mara trip for November this year.

It seems one of the main points of discussion is about sharing rooms, I don't potentially mind sharing but how are the rooms allocated?

Also what is the size of the group for this trip?

Thanks

Hi PaulaH,

There are 3 travellers booked on this trip, but remember that there is still plenty of time for people to book.

You would be allocated a room to share with the same gender and in booking order, unless there is a special request.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Hi Monty

Could you give me an update for the October trip please. This seems to be around the time that Sept/Oct trips get cancelled through low numbers so I'd be grateful if you could tell me how many are booked.

Many thanks

Sally

Thanks for the info Monty.

Once the sharing has been allocated will that be the same for even stop on the trip, or is it possible to swap, if people get on better with others for example.

I'm a first timer to Just You so just building myself up to take the plunge and book.

Thanks

Hi,

Sally - There are 7 travellers booked on this tour. It hasn't been given the green light just yet, so if you want to check back in a month or so I will be happy to give you an update.

Paula - If you speak nicely to your Tour Manager, I am sure they could do some jiggling around if necessary.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Thanks Monty.

Sharing doesn't bother me, I don't suppose you're really in rooms for that long on a trip like this, was just interested in how it is organised.

I've taken the plunge and booked for November. Now looking forward to my first Just You trip.

Hi

I'm know it's still along way off but I've read a few posts about trips being cancelled due to low numbers, so was just wondering what the minimum number would be for this trip and when would the cut off / decision point be?

Thanks

Paula

Hi Paula,

I have just spoken to one of the team who look at whether or not a tour will operate and she has advised me that the A Kenyan Safari can operate on lower numbers than many of our tours. While at this stage it has not been cleared to operate, with the new brochure out very soon, she is feeling quietly confident.

We would always aim to make a decision before the final balance is due (although we try to make sure this is done much further in advance where possible).

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Jules / Monty

I've noticed that the October Kenya trip has gone from '9 places left' to 'Available'. Does this mean some people have dropped out? Could you let me know the numbers now.

Thanks

HI Sally,

There are still 9 spaces avaiaibile on this trip, so nobody has dropped out! There are 9 travellers booked on this trip now, so the numbers are slowly creeping up and getting closer to that green light.

Kindest regards,

Monty

I am very interested in going on the Kenyan Safari but was wondering what the government's advice is currently about travelling to this area, as I know in the past that non-essential travel has not been advised.  Is it safe at the moment?  Thank you!

Hi JanBeth,

The team here at JYHQ, very closely monitor travel advice from various agencies. The FCO is just one of these and all travellers have access to their information - you can read the current advice for Kenya here:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/kenya

At the moment, Kenya is considered safe to travel to with the exception of areas along the Kenya-Somali boarder - an area that you wouldn't be visiting on a Just You tour.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi

I noticed the September trip is now sold out. Have you got a update on the numbers booked for November this year?

Thanks Paula

Not looking too popular at the moment then. ?

Hopefully it'll pick up. I'm booked on this as my first JY trip. Nervous and excited but also slightly concerned it might not get enough people.

Could you please give me an update on how many people are booked for the Kenya safari in October and whether it has been given the green light yet?
