JY always used to provide the use of an airport lounge for long-haul holidays. Why has it stopped doing this for most holidays - they were always very popular?

Hi DavidG,

I've just had this clarified....

The lounge we used to use at Terminal 4 was closed and we couldn't get access to any alternatives and at Terminal 5 there are no public lounges available to us. Unfortunately it means that any tours that are operating from those two terminals can't be offered with a lounge.

Where we can offer access to an Airport Lounge on the long haul holidays, this is included.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

I'm booked on the 8th Oct tour of China - now departing from Heathrow (terminal 2) instead of Gatwick.

Will we have access to an airport lounge?

Many thanks

Hi Mike,

I believe that there will be access to the airport lounge at T2. All details will be confirmed in your final documents.

Hi Julia,

That's great; many thanks for such a quick response. The airport lounge is always a great place to meet up with fellow travellers.

Cheers

Mike

Regarding Terminal 4, is there an airport lounge there, whether JY can use it or not?

I always use Terminal 4 when I fly over to Detroit. I did use a lounge there when I last went over but that was Business Class.

Thanks Julia, I'm going to OZ for 4 weeks for Christmas and New Year from T4. Like to relax in comfort before I go, even if I have to pay for it!

Hi Julia.

Lounges are a great way to meet fellow travellers. Having used them at Heathrow T3 for ‘Texas and New Orleans’ last year and Gatwicks North Terminal for the ‘Florida’ tour in May. So I was little disappointed to find out that there was no lounges available at Heathrow T5 for my ‘Canada & New England’ tour next month.

However, when I google www.heathrowairport.com/static/Heathrow/Download/PDF/Heathrow_T5_Map.pdf, on the plan for ‘Departures Level 3’ there are 3 lounges listed. ‘Concorde Room’, ‘Galleries Lounge North’ and ‘Galleries Lounge South’. On Level 2 at Gate A4 there are the ‘York & Lancaster Rooms’ lounge.

Do Just You and also Travelsphere know about these lounges? I am sure if these were available we would use them. The floor plans are up to date as they are dated July 2014.

I am sure all travellers from Heathrow T5 hope you come back with some good news!!!

Regards

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

I'm afraid it's not the best news.....

We do know about these lounges unfortunately they are not available to us.

The lounges that we book, whereever possible, are 'public' lounges. Sadly, the lounges at T5 are for BA customers who upgrade their flights to business or first class only, so World Traveller Class Customers (how we fly) are not allowed access. As all lounges at T5 are owned by BA, there are no alternatives that we can offer our customers.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia

You said in the post above that you believed there is access to an airport lounge on the departure for the 7th September Inspirational China tour (from Manchester), however there was no mention about this in my travel documents.

Can you confirm either way? Is it something our Tour Guide will sort out for us on the day?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

Subject to availability access to the airport lounge is included on this departure.

I have passed your booking details on to my colleague and explained that you haven't received a pass and she'll look in to this for you.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Dave,

Just to confirm on this thread. You will have access to the Airport lounge on this departure, however you will not be sent a lounge pass.

The Lounge Manager has a list of names and will be checking you off as you arrive.

Have a great trip

Julia

Regarding T4 at Heathrow. Through this conversation it dawned on me that there was no mention in my documents of the usual access to a lounge. Doing some digging, there is a pay for lounge available called Skyteam

https://www.skyteam.com/en/Why-SkyTeam/SkyTeam-Lounges/SkyTeam-Branded-Lounge-London-Heathrow/

Mixed reviews and some may think it a bit steep at £30 for three hours (£27 thought Saga), book direct or through Holiday Extras etc.

I'm going to give it a try, will report back.
