Hi, I am in my 60s and after travelling to New Zealand on my own early this year - I decided that single travel wasn't so bad! So I decided that Christmas abroad would be my next trip as it was something I have always wanted to do. I gather most people fly out from Gatwick, so look forward to seeing others at the hotel as I am travelling via Manchester. If others have been to Andalucia at Christmas, any hints about the temperatures there and if I will need thermal underwear!! Thanks for any tips.

Can someone give me an idea of what to expect.

I've stumbled across the site and have to say that the thought of travelling alone isn't something I'm all that keen on. That said you all make it sound great!!

Hi

When you travel with Just You, you are not really travelling on our own. You will be with a group of other like minded people of all ages. Everything is taken care of from start to finish. You are free to join in and if you feel like spending some time on your own, that too is okay.

Regards

Hi

Why are you not keen in travelling alone...as Jaya says by going with JY your are NOT travelling alone, you are travelling with a group of like minded people from young to old and all in between. I am 54 and have been using JY since 2006 I have my 10 tour booked with them for next year.... GREAT choice of holidays, nice people to meet and a laugh along the way..so fun times I say.

If I can help with anything else just ask.

These holidays sound like the answer for someone like me whose husband has got early onset dementia. All my friends are still with their husbands and so, if I go away, I will have to holiday alone. I've travelled quite a bit so can cope with that, but never alone, and I don't fancy having no-one to talk to and share things with for an entire holiday! I would like to go in Feb but the south american trip sounds a bit hectic and I hate having to clock-watch all the time for fear of turning up late. Also it takes me a while to get over a long haul. Has anyone done it? Also what sort of ages generally go along?[/font]

Pamela,

The touring hols are very hectic so may not suit you, saying that I really enjoy them but i get restless and always wanting to do something.

Why not try something nearer to home, i've done a few European one centre hols (Spain, Italy & Austria), you can make it as hectic as you want by opting out of some of the excurrsions.

Is it for you ?

Think JY have something here for everyone, you'll not be on your own, you'll make lots of friends and have a cracking time.

hello Pamela and welcome to the world of just YOU!

I have not been on the tour you are interested in but I do have my 10th tour booked for 2014.. Travelling with JY is very safe and you will see so much and meet a great bunch of people . the main age group is 55-70 with younger and older either side. I have done a few USA tours and you do get to see so much and you are on the go quite a bit, I hope someone that has been in this tour answers you! also see if anybody has left a reveiw about the holiday! other than that have a good look at the write up and see what is on offer each day. If there is anything else I can help with then just ask.

I have a husband but he doesn't like touring so I just go on my own..

have fun

Hi Pamela,

I did the Chile, Argentina and Brazil tour with Travelsphere in Sept 2012 and it was amazing! I'm delighted that JY are now offering the same tour. It is not that hectic and provided you get some sleep on the flight you should get over it fairly quickly. I wrote a review of this tour afterwards - if you scroll down a couple of pages on the Reviews forum you'll find it. I can really recommend it as one of the best I've ever done. The sights were brilliant, especially travelling over the Andes and seeing the Iguazu Falls close up.

If you do decide on this tour, put up a thread under the name of the tour and I'll answer any questions you may have about it. It is expensive but so worth it!

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Pamela

Majority of Just You travellers are aged between 40s - 80s, but you do get younger ones depending on which holiday you choose. Anyway, why worry about age as it is just a number! Just You has lots of short haul holidays on offer. Costa de la Luz is a great choice as it is not a hectic holiday. There is a good balance of included excursions and free time. When you travel with Just You, there is no pressure on joining all the excursions and you are free to 'opt out' as and when you want. Andalucia is another destination you may want to consider as again this is not a very hectic trip.

Regards

Jaya

Hello, I am new to this and still a bit unsure! I sadly lost my husband almost two years so am still finding my way. I am very happy to travel around the UK on my own and even ventured to our favourite hotel in Sharm el Sheikh last year though didn't feel totally comfortable. The girls in my local travel agent ordered me a Just You brochure and I have since received the latest one so am tempted to give it a try. Can anyone that has just tried their first trip or about to let me know that you felt/feel the same as I am and that it's no big deal to take the fist step!

Hi Joy57

I lost my husband in Nov 2011. I have booked the Classic Cities of Italy trip for my first JY holiday. I'm nervous, but also excited. My late husband and I loved holidays, and I don't want to have to wait for people to invite me to go with them. I want to be able to travel when and where I want, and to that I decided I had to be brave and do it!

Have a look at the brochure and go for it!

:)Hello all! I have decided this year to travel alone on a holiday of a life time:blush:. I have travelled alone before but only in Europe, hence my rationale for joining such a community. I have just turned the tender age of 50 and seeking an adventure!:-/ Im looking at a safari combined short beach holiday 7- 10 days with like minded folk. Anyone who has been on such a holiday for the first time and I have no doubt there will be many, I would love to hear of your experiences!!

Best wishes all:thumbup:

hello Betty Boop

There is a huge world out there so good for you wanting to venture out ..a few years ago I did the Kenyan Safari I also did the add on..great safari part and great laze around in the sun part so all in all the best of both worlds for me..I must say the few that went home from the main tour really wanted to stay on as we were having a great time...so if you can do the add on go for it..

I have my 10th tour booked and have travelled near and far but only the 1 safari, if you have any other questions then just ask away.
