Hi,

I have just booked up to go to Iceland next week for Christmas, would love to hear from anyone else going. Little bit nervous as it's my first trip, but very excited too!

Carol.

HelloCarolee,

I have also booked this holiday - my 15th with JY. All these holidays have been excellent with generally well-arranged itineraries so that you are kept well entertained.

This holiday certainly looks rather different and should be a great experience. See you for New Year!

is there anyone who had experienced the Christmas in Iceland and has some photographs of that eve. I am interested to know how people celebrate this event in Iceland? If possible then share your images there and tell me something about your travel experience of this region.

Hi I am gong to Iceland in March and would welcome some guidance on clothing. A walking friend who has been before said a Down coat but Blacks said Down is not waterproof and that a waterproof coat with inbuilt fleece is best. I have already sussed out that layers is the way to go and bought some thermals yesterday. I suspect that I can manage with fleeces and coats I already have - any feedback?

Hi Jonah,

Please note that the following is my own personal opinion and not that of the company, but having travelled to Iceland in mid-February I feel I can share my own experiences as the weather will be pretty similar.

You're right, layers are the best way to go - I practically lived in my thermals. I agree that with layers, a waterproof coat and few fleeces you should be fine. I would make sure that you keep warm gloves, hat and a scarf close to hand. If you are taking the optional Northern Lights excursion wrap up - I wore most of the clothes I'd packed, resembled the Michelin Man, and was just about warm.

It may also seem obvious, but a good pair of walking shoes/boots are worth taking. It can get icy at those temperatures and whilst you may find it is quite clear in places like Reykjavik centre if you choose to take the Golden Circle tour, at this time of year, walking up to see Gulfoss and around the geysers it may be icy underfoot.

I hope this helps.

Julia

I heard that Iceland is a cold area in fact very cold area. Jonah! As you mentioned that you are going there in March I think it will be a cold month in this region. There are many regions where this month is not cold like Asian countries.I must say that is really great that you start packing but and arrange the fleeces and coats. Best of luck for a happy journey.
