Hi Everyone. After not quite going through with it last year, I am again tempted by this trip this year, but have a couple of worries. First, as a huge cat-lover, I am terrified of possibly seeing cages of cats which are to be boiled alive, also of being given any to eat myself. Similarly, I would hate to see the cages of bears being milked for their bile. How likely do you think this is, has anyone who has been seen anything awful? I know the restaurants do keep live animals, (I've recently heard of an owl), to be killed to order. Though I'd love to see the Terracotta Army, Great Wall, Pandas, Temples etc., I don't want to be a hypocrite, though I do realise there is cruelty to animals (and people) in every country in the world. What does everyone think, please?

Hello,

I went to China with Just you at Christmas and I didn't see anything nasty. You may see in some restaurants fish swimming in tanks but that was it. There was definately no bears or cats in cages. The Terracotta Army is fantastic and not to be missed. You wil have a great time.

Warm regards Julie

Hello

Unfortunately we live in a world where some animals to us are meant to be pets, whilst in other countries it is food to them. Recently I have been watching Luke Nguyen's travels through Vietnam and Combodia on TV and there is a warning at the beginning that viewers may find some scenes upsetting. They eat anything that moves and to them it is the same as eating cows, pigs, chickens etc. I am a vegetarian and even though I can't bear the thought of any live creature suffering this would not put me off travelling to these countries but would hope that I do not come across any scenes of so called cruelty.
