Hi everyone.

Made the decision to book my first JY holiday! Bit nervous and excited at the same time.

Now struggling to decide between the 2 Croatia holidays. I have a few questions if anyone can help....

Do you find out the prices of the optional excursions before you go and are they usually expensive or good value for money?

Also are the hotels listed on the web usually the ones that you get?

Thank you!

Hi there

Well done on deciding to book your first JY holiday, it's the hardest part trust me - I dithered for months but so glad I did it.

I've not done either of the Croatian trips, but based on my 3 other JY holidays you'll get an information pack nearer the time of your holiday detailing your flights, hotels and all of the optional extras and their prices. Sometimes you can prepay for the extras when booking your holiday, other times you pay the Tour Manager when there. Based on my experience, I'd say that in most cases the optional extras can be done cheaper yourself if you're prepared to do a bit of research beforehand - the downside of course is that you'll lose the use of your Tour Manager and won't travel with the rest of the group. Personally if any of the extras interest me (and most of them usually do!) I've always paid and gone with the group - the Tour Managers are very knowledgeable and without doubt make the trips more enjoyable and interesting as a result.

The hotels have always been the ones listed on my 3 trips, don't know if that's always the case though - sorry!

Hope this helps,

Michael.

Hi Shaz

I can tell you that you can find out the prices of the optional excursions before you go and can also book them in the UK which means you do not have to carry a lot of money. You can get this information by calling customer services or the optional excursions information is usually sent to you before you travel so you have an option to book them if you want. I have been on 4 Just You holidays and the hotels have been the ones listed on the Just You website or brochures. To date I have only been on 1 Just You holiday where we had the option to book 2 extra excursions and both were good value for money. But again, everyone's views are different. I go along with the thinking that I may never visit the same place again so take advantage to see as much as I can. But again, not everyone's finances allow this.

Thanks Michael and Jaya! That's really helpful. I have dithered about for quite awhile before deciding to go for it but really excited now.

I take the same view as both of you and want to see as much as I can of the country. It's just really useful to be able to plan the money side of things beforehand.

Thanks again!

RE: solos holidays

Hello Again JC

Just in case you're having trouble finding the post from Ben regarding the excursions, I've just noticed that the last post on that thread was 2 october so that's the date you need to look for in the Ask Your Editor section. Maybe see you there in May!
