Hi Matt,

I went on this trip in September. I had a ball. A few tips for you - take about £70 worth of yuan with you and good clean Sterling notes to change in the hotels. Their rate of exchange is better than what we can get here. A good pair of walking shoes is essential as a decent sized memory for the camera.

Also take some toilet roll and hand sanitiser as a lot of the toilets leave a lot to be desired.

Have a fab trip

I've just returned home from the Wonders of China tour and had a fantastic time. It's a very busy trip, you go on your first outing straight from the airport! Don't take travellers cheques, you wont be able to get them cashed. I took about £100 of local currency and £300 of sterling which I changed at the hotels. It was easy to do, especially as you are not always near a bank. If taking sterling do make sure they are very new notes, even the slightest little mark, like an ink blot on the edge, or a small tear and they wont accept it. Most of the big tourist places take credit cards but you need cash for the smaller shops. You will have a great holiday but I think it will be quite cold so pack some warm clothes.
