Hi everyone

On my own for 18 months now, (husband in care home) and decided it was time to stop holidaying with family and go it alone. In my sixties and consider myself reasonably independent but going solo on holiday is definitely outside my comfort zone. Still, I've decided to give it a try.

I'm considering the four day trip to Prague next May and would like to hear from anyone who has been on this holiday. The excursions sound interesting so perhaps if you took part in these you'd let me know if you found them worthwhile.

Looking forward to any feedback

I did this trip a couple of years ago, thoroughly enjoyed it and the excursions.

Welcome to you,

I am sorry to hear your Husband is now in a care home, on my travels I have met a few people who are carers but still need a break. I have not been on the JY Prague tour but I have done a mini break in Prague a couple of years ago and I loved it so much history and architecture (?Spelling).

You will have a great time I am sure, I will be on my 8th JY tour in 2012. I have met some lovely people along the way, some I now travel with on JY tours but I still go on my own as well. If there is anything I can help you with just ask away.

Cindy

Haven't done Prague but if its anything like the trips I've done so far you wont regret booking. JY provide a great service for single travellers who like to holiday.

Remember we were all out of our comfort zone before our first trip but the fact that many people come back says it all.

Just wanted to say I love your username - now's the time to live up to it!:shy:

Seriously, it sounds like the Prague break would suit you - not too long, and a real change of scenery. Good luck with wherever you go.

Hi Cindy

Many thanks for your reply and making me feel so welcome. I am sure I will enjoy Prague as it has a fascinating history so I will definitely book that trip. Watched your interview on You Tube and nice to put a face to a name. Once again thanks for replying to my post. Much appreciated.

Hi Mick

Thanks for your reply. I will look forward to my trip to Prague now as it sounds like JY really look after single travellers well. I'm glad I posted on the community as I now feel part of it even before I take my first solo holiday.

Many thanks

Thanks for replying, Roger. Sounds like Prague will be well worth a visit and I will definitely book those excursions.

Hi Mo,

Welcome.

I know it must be difficult taking that 'first step' but we have all done it and opened up a new world for ourselves.

Prague is a good choice for your first trip, I am going to Prague for Xmas and looking forward to it. I have been there before but as part of a tour of Eastern Europe so it was only for a couple of days and of course it was in the Summer so this time it will be in the snow.

I think you will enjoy your trip as it is a lovely city and if you are thinking of going in May it will be the Spring. You will meet lots of new friends and of course your tour manager will take really good care of your (so your family can be assured you are safe), Remember everyone else will be a single traveller - it may even be the first time for some of the others too.

I hope this is the first of many happy holidays for you - you deserve them. Perhaps our paths may cross some day.

Be happy,

Best wishes,

Lesley

Hi RosieMo

Glad you like my username. I think as we grow older we should all learn to seize the day. Everyone in this community is so friendly and I've been really pleased with the response to my post. Thanks for your good wishes.

Hi Lesley

Many thanks for your kind reply. Sounds like Prague will be a good choice for my first solo holiday and I will be in good company. Who knows, perhaps our paths will cross one day.

Enjoy your trip to Prague and as they say in the Czech Republic - "Vesele Vanoce". I think that means Happy Christmas. (Don't ask me how you pronounce it as I have mastered very little Czech yet!)

Kind regards

Mo
