hello,

I am Anne, 57yrs old and I lost my husband in 2008. I still work full time and live in London. I sometimes dream of getting away for a quiet weekend away in the UK - just to chill out - no traffic, no noise - just to hear the sound of nature surround me. A nice relaxing walk in the countryside, perhaps with a chance of a visit to some local shops to just browse, perhaps some history thrown in. Nothing earth shattering - just a peaceful weekend away in the country. I have never really travelled anywhere on my own and have been looking for groups / organisation with people like myself. Any ideas?

Hope you are all having a good day. Anne.

Hi Anne,

All I can suggest if its just a weekend you want is try a discovery weekend but if you want longer do a European holiday.

One thing for certain is you wont be alone many of the travellers will be just like yourself and looking for a nice break.

I lost my partner 18 month ago and been on your own isn't a reason for not enjoying yourself, if you want a break you should do it.

Hi Anne, welcome to the forum :)

May I suggest you take a look at the Walking in the Ahr Valley trip. Obviously it's not in the UK but it does seem to fulfil all your other requirements.

Hope that helps?

Hi Anne,

I see Julian has recommended the Walking in the Ahr Valley trip. He is right - it is a good start - particularly if you like walking but want something easy as it is a level 1 walk.

I did this in 2009 and really enjoyed it, so much so that I am going again in May this year but 3 friends are joining me (their 1st Just You holiday). None of us are 'serious' walkers and just want something different.

But you know there are lots of holidays which might appeal to you, so have a look and choose something you would like. As for travelling 'on your own' - you won't be on your own for long because you will soon make friends and your Tour Manager will make sure you have a good time.

I wish you luck with your choice - Enjoy! And Welcome To My World!!!

Be happy,

Best wishes,
