Hi all. I am thinking about booking my first trip away on my own over the Christmas break. I am looking for a fairly informal time and am a bit worried that some of the breaks seem somewhat formal with dinner dances etc. Could anyone give me advice about what would be a good idea for me - I would like to stick to Europe. Also - and I hope this doesnt offend anyone - but what sort of age range normally goes on holidays here. I am 53 - but unfortunatatley sometimes think I'm still 18 although I do get on with most people - well i think I do lol.

Thanks Graham

I went on the trip to Lake Garda at Christmas a couple of years ago.I would certainly reccommend it although the hotel this year is different to the one we stayed in. The age group went from 20s to 80s but everyone mixed in well. It wasn't formal at all - we had a dance Christmas evening but all very relaxed and the trips to Venice and Verona were well worth doing. Hope you have a good time where ever you decide to go

Graham, I have booked for Tuscany at Christmas. I have not been on a holiday with JustU before but have been on two previous singles christmas hols in UK and one summer hol abroad, I found the age mix to be very wide 30's to 80's - think JustU sound to be similar. All got on together very well - all single and in the same boat! I am 59 - going on 21 and tend to get on with everyone - it's a frame of mind thing. Hope this helps you decide. Pauline.

Hi Graham

I am also an 18 yr old in a 50 something body! Don't worry about the "dinner dance" thing - in my experience, it's not that formal and everyone just has a really good time.

I have booked the Tuscany Christmas trip and am so looking forward to it. Wherever you go I am sure you will have a great time - but you will never know until you "take the plunge and book it!!" I have just come back from a fabulous 6 week tour of Asia and Australia and find as I get older I am getting more independent and adventurous. What have you got to lose? Go for it!!

Hi

Thanks for all your advice and help. I have just booked for Lake Garda this Xmas.

If anyone else is going I'll see you at Gatwick on 23 December or perhaps the evening before.

Graham.

I am 55 going on 18 too- you are not alone in this category.

I have just booked a trip on my own for the first time and it did my soul good to have something to look forward to!!

Go ahead-do it and enjoy yourself-company is better than eating alone.
