Hi

Is there anyone else in the community going to Vietnam? Just paid the balance and now I'm getting excited.

Hi Lynne......you beat me to it! Logged on  this morning, to see who is going? Looking forward to it....just working out how much cash to take? Can order the Dong for Vietnam, but can't get currency for Cambodia?

Where are you from Lynne? I'm in Surrey!

Hi Lynne and Ginny

I am also going on this trip but probably the only one coming from Scotland!!  I read somewhere that it is an idea to take US $ and exchange them  there. We need them for the Cambodia visa anyway. I had a consultation at a vaccine clinic this morning and will be getting the triple plus HepA. What have you been advised?

The 2 places I have always really wanted to visit are Halong Bay and Angkor Wat so looking forward the whole experience.

Hi Sheila!         You'll have travelled by the time you hit Heathrow then....never mind what follows!

I'm taking some Dong and US dollars.....sure it'll all sort!

For jabs I was advised TB & tetanus rejabs....which I have had. I had Hep A 10 years ago for Africa. It lasts 25 years apparently?

Just logged in and booked in on line for Singapore Airlines.....so well excited now!

Look forward to meeting you guys on Friday!

Hi Ginny

I am guessing you are on the Vietnam trip before the one I am going on , departing 22 November.  I hope you have a great time and would appreciate any tips you might have when you return.

Safe travels and hope you have a fantastic time!

Hi Sheila

I posted the question and then as I did not have an e-mail to say there was activity I forgot to check.

I had a Hep A vacine for Peru which still covers me. I'm working out how much cash to take so I can order it soon and will take a mixture of Dollars and Dong. I have always wanted to visit Angkor Wat as well and looking forward to the river trip. I can't believe it is only 3 weeks to go and look forward to meeting you. I'll be in the airport lounge if you want a friendly face to see before boarding.

Hi Lynne

Many thanks for your reply. I can't believe how quickly the days are passing now and the holiday is getting very close. As I am travelling from Edinburgh, I will be staying overnight at terminal 4 so should be checking in at least 3 hours in advance. I will be keeping an eye out for "Just You" pink luggage tags so hopefully we will meet up.Like you, I have always wanted to visit Angkor Wat but Halong Bay has long been on my bucket list.

Looking forward to meeting you

Hi Ginny

I'm on the Vietnam trip but it says I can't check in till 24 hours before

I have heard that Vietnam is mostly cash so confused what to take, I thought just Dong

look forward to meeting you next week

This morning I was chatting to a friend who was in Vietnam 6 years ago and she said US dollars were the main currency after dong. Apparently cash machines give you US dollars which also seems to be the preferred currency in Cambodia.

Hope this is useful and you still have time to get some dollars!

See you Friday

Hi Janet

Ginny went on an earlier trip to us so that is where the confusion arises. I've got Dong and US Dollars as we need dollars for the Cambodia entry visa (if you are doing the Cambodia add on).

See you Friday.

Regards Lynne
