Hi Rose,

I believe that you can change some of your currency at the airport (or use an ATM), but when you leave for Cambodia, you will need to change the Vietnamese Dong into USD.

Kindest Regards,

Amy

Hi Rose,

I used to worry a lot about currency before long haul tours but I've found that the TM will always organise (or at least be willing to organise) somewhere for the group to change money - either at a bureau in the airport, the hotel, bank or elsewhere.  Some currencies you can get before you go, others only when you are in the country.  A tour manager recently told me never to change money beforehand, but to get it in the country.  I think in SE Asia, it would be easiest to change US dollars, but in most other countries it is just as handy to bring sterling or (even more so) euro.  Hope this helps!

All the best,

Bob

I've done the Cambodia & Mekong Delta tour with Travelsphere. I just took USD for the 3 countries visited and got on fine.

When my daughter did this trip several years ago, the only problem she had was at Angkor Wat with an ATM. Back home she could take out £250 a day, took out $300 as it was less and they shut her account. A lady rang me at home to tell me to get Sarah to ring her on a number. I went straight to the Bank who told me that it was a con and they had not rung me. Spoke with Sarah with the bank who opened up her account to be used again. I always tell my bank when I am away and they have Sarah's phone number if there is a problem. Best time was in Buenos Aires when my bank had an ATM in the Mall. Went into English and up came Good Morning Mrs Babb 🙂

We go to Cambodia first Amy -  are you saying we need USD in Cambodia and Dong in Vietnam?

Rose
