Hi Monty.

This is still a trip that I would love to do, but I have borne in mind what most of the reviews have said about the amount of steps and steep slopes that have to be negotiated both in the hotel and on the excursions, so I have sadly, passed on it each time.

I was surprised therefore to see that both in the new brochure, and also online that it only states now that "to maximise your enjoyment of this holiday that a certain amount of walking is needed".  If I was new to JY, was booking online and had not read the reviews on the Forum I would find this misleading.

I just thought I would point this out! 🙂

Hi Bosuncat,

Thanks for your comment on this - I'll pass this on to the team upstairs for them to review.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Elaine,

I have been on the Calabrian tour.  Steps at the hotel are not a real problem.  The coach dropped us as near to the hotel as he could and it was a gentle slope to the hotel steps - no more than a lot of others.  Once in the hotel there is a lift to the rooms, but there are steps, 4 or 5 with a very wide one for a couple of paces before another 4 or 5 to the lift, and from what I can recall a couple from the bar to the lounge and terrace. It was the excursions, on steep hillside villages, where I had trouble, coupled with the fact that it was very, very, hot, (low to mid 30's) in early September.  In some cases the steps, the short cut, could be avoided by taking the roadway instead.

It is a shame that you have had to rule out this fabulous holiday.

Thanks for your advice Sylvia.  :)

It's not going up for me but coming down steep slopes and steps that is the problem.  I would probably be fine in the hotel, but I am recalling reviews about the many steps on the excursions, and it would be a shame if I got there and found that most of the excursions would be very difficult for me.
