Morning Julia

a little tester for you

I am flying from Birmingham with KLM via Amsterdam to Lima, Peru, departing on Thursday 18th September with Travelsphere, ref no A******, I have looked on the klm website and they have a check in facility though I fear that wouldn't apply to us, would you please be able to find out if we could check in online if only to secure an aisle seat though not essential i'm sure ther'll be plenty of choice on the morning of check in as I plan to be at the airport 2.30 - 2.45am for our six am departure

many thanks as always

Dave

Hi Dave,

So, according to my lovely colleague in our aviation team you are not on a group booking and will therefore be able to checkin online with your airline reference number nearer the time of travel.

I will drop you an email away from the community with this reference number.

Kindest regards,

Julia

I'm doing the same trip with TS and flying with KLM but going on 4/9. Could you possibly pop me an email too? My ref is A******.

Much appreciated.

Hi Angela,

Your booking is also away from the group so you should be able to check in online. I will drop you an email with the reference you will need to do this.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

Going to Lake Garda 9 September from Manchester. Term 3. Flybe. Is it advisable/possible to check in on line or will this mess up the travel JY courier who is meeting us there. Can you tell me how many travels are going from Manchester?

Many thanks

Freda Margaret

Hi Freda Margaret,

You are travelling on an independent reference number so if you would like to checkin online, this is available to you - I will drop you an email now with the details of this.

The tour is fully booked and there are 10 of you travelling from Manchester - so keep an eye out for those JY luggage tags!

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Dave

Have never checked in on-line before. Am a little nervous about trying to do it, so probably won't bother although I know it could be advantageous. I do prefer aisle seats all the time though.

Six weeks time hopefully we will be enroute, ace.

All the best

Di

Thanks Julia for getting back so amazingly quickly. I think Dave has defo started something!

Yes Dave, the count down is on big time. Checking the weather now to try and figure what to take. Probably something of everything! Will hear how you get on - should be lots of great things to tell.

Thanks Julia for the information. Don't want to be separated from my fellow travelers and sitting on my own, so would it be best to just meet up with courier? Do we all meet up first and go through check in together. First time on my own, so want to stay part of the group.

Thanks Freda Margaret

Hi Freda Margaret,

The Airport Rep will be looking out for travellers at check in so please make sure you have your Just You luggage labels attached to your hand and checked luggage so you can be easily seen. As travellers tend to arrive at different times you will be able to wait on the check in side of the security with the airport rep until a fellow traveller arrives if you wish.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Di

it's drawing closer, I used to be a window freak but go for the aisle these days so can get in and out w/out disturbing anyone, I am sure there will be plenty of aisle seats on the morning to choose from, unsure whether to check in online yet or leave it till the morning of the flight, plenty of time once through security to go for a coffee and a bite to eat if need be I don't suppose we'll get much on the short klm flight to Amsterdam but i'm taking some euro's just incase the need comes for a snack and a drink there

see you soon, all the best

Dave

Hello Dave

Have thought that if you check in on-line and I don't, I will just see you briefly when we arrive at the airport and then meet up again airside because I will, I think, be still checking in when you have already gone through security. In the grand scheme of things that will be fine because if you have made the effort to check in on-line you must get through quicker than me. However, if the plane is ready to depart and I am not there could you please ask the pilot to wait LOL.

Yes, I have also got Euros for Amsterdam. Remains from a previous holiday but more than enough for Amsterdam outwards and return.

Five weeks,

See you soon

best wishes

Di

Hiya Di

been thinking about that, maybe best to check in together then we can each have an aisle seat hopefully next to each other if you know what I mean and two heads are better than one when it comes to negotiating Amsterdam airport lol shall prob be a smaller plane on the first leg

we can arrange to meet a bit nearer the time once we know for sure the check in times, hopefully not more than 3 hrs but i'll look to get there between 2.30 and 2.45 cud always exchange mobile no's if u like or look out for that bright red suitcase of mine!, been doing a bit of reading up on peru this week, really looking to Cusco there is a large handicraft market across from the hotel as well as very good restaurants, the main square is about a 20 min walk though a little uphill and a nice walk or can get a taxi for around 4 soles which is barely a pound, just a block up the street there's a great bar called Kissaten Lounge but need to be aware of street vendors outside the hotel and crossing the street can be hazardous so bring your running shoes lol, are you doing the optional to the sacred valley? I have also just finished reading a book on my kindle about a couple' travels round South America, their highlights were Rio and all of Peru with Cusco high up on the list as well as Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca which they did from the Bolivia side, they thought Buenos Aires was too European and Paraguay forget going there as was a right dump

always useful to have euros I never change them back may as well keep them

all the best

Dave

Hiya Dave

When my friend and I travel we both want aisle seats and we have usually been lucky to get them adjacent to each other -see if you and I can be lucky with KLM. No worries though if you do decide . to check in on-line!

I have never been to Amsterdam airport before but I know it is massive. Whilst we are pottering around Amsterdam or having a snack we may well see some of the others on the trip who are travelling from other regional airports.

I will aim to be at BHX the same time as you. I will look for a bright red suitcase. Mine is navy with a yellow ribbon!

It may be a good idea to swap mobile numbers, especially if I get any emergencies with mum and aunt and couldn't go. I would want to let you know obviously. I will be on tenterhooks until I am on the plane. We will need to swap numbers off the forum though.

I wonder whether we need to ask Julia if she can pass our numbers on to each other or do we need to swap e-mail addresses first.

Yes, I have booked the Sacred Valley.

I have also done a bit of reading round. Last week read about the Ballestas Islands. Sounds great as long as I am not seasick. Saw pics of the boats. Apparently if you sit at the back of the boat it is the roughest and you get most wet BUT the best photo opportunities.

Interesting to find out more about Cusco, Dave. BUT I won't be taking running shoes, I might just have to walk really fast, when needed LOL.

Can't wait for this holiday.

Best wishes for now

Di

Hello Julia,

Sorry, to trouble you, but would you mind advising me of the protocol required for swapping mobile phone numbers?

AbbaDave and I may want to swap mobile numbers, in case I have an emergency with my mum and aunt and suddenly can't go to Peru. Have had to cancel holidays before because of their health, they are 92 and 94. Would be gutted if I had to cancel this TS holiday.

I think Dave and I are the only 2 travelling from BHX

Do we need to swap e-mail addresses first and take it from there?

If so I am happy for Dave to have my e-mail.

Thanking you in anticipation

Kind Regards

Di

Hi Di,

If you both confirm that you are happy to exchange email addresses I can pass these on to each other and then you can swap mobile numbers directly. (So Dave, if you can reply to this thread that you are happy I'll drop you both an email away from the community)

Kindest regards,

Julia
