Hi Julia

I was planning on booking the Universal Studios excursion during my America's Golden West tour (30 Sept), but have just been reading the general info on excursions and it says half days excursions are only 3-4 hours long. Please can you confirm whether this applies to Universal Studios - 3 hours doesn't seem very long for everything there is to do there - just wondering if it would be more frustrating to do it in a hurry, than not do it at all!

While I'm here - please can you give an update on how many there are on the tour now?

Many thanks

Julia

Hi BristolBarb,

Customers taking this will usually get dropped off at lunchtime after the city tour around 12.30 - 1pm. The Tour Manager will then arrange a pick up time with you which is usually around 6pm.

In terms of numbers, there are now 28 travellers booked.

Kindest regards,

Julia

I've done Universal twice with JY (Golden West & Route 66) and unless my memory is playing tricks we got 6 hours+ on both trips.

Hi BristolBarb

I did the AGW tour a couple of years ago (you'll have an amazing time) and don't worry, you'll have plenty of time at Universal. The trick is to do the Studio Tour when you first arrive - the queue looks huge but it moves really quickly. There are about half a dozen other large rides and several stage shows which repeat throughout the day but, as you are going after the end of the school holidays (as I did), the queues for these will be much quieter.

The park is on a hill side above the working studio and is smaller than you would think but a lot of fun. There is also a mall of shops and restaurants directly outside the park gates if you have time on your hands while waiting for your bus.

The Hollywood tour in the morning is also really great - take a tip from me and when you stop at the Farmer's Market, find the Italian Bakery at the back and try a bearclaw. Warning - your waistline won't thank me!

Have a fab holiday

Afternoon BristolBarb.

I quite agree with the comments re. Universal Studios. The tour is a "not to be missed" experience. You'll love it.

Also, at the Farmers Market, do try the pancakes. However, be warned, if you do queue for a meal, take care because the price quoted is just for the meal itself. If you are asked "would you like........with that?", the price rockets!!

Enjoy your trip.

Hi All

Thanks very much for your reassurance - and top tips on eateries - will ensure elasticated waist skirts are high on my list of packing priorities! You've sold the excursion extremely well - will book it tomorrow.:D

Hi BristolBarb, just thought I'd offer you a tip. Make sure you see 'Waterworld'! Apparently it is fantastic but I got my timings wrong and by the time I decided to go see it I found I would have to be back on the coach before the 'Next Show Start Time' so I had to miss it!!! Sue

Hi ~ to reiterate what Sue said, do make sure you see the Waterworld show, but DON'T sit in the front rows ~ you'll get soaked.

When we went to see it, two of the performers were actually from CSI Las Vegas, my very favourite CSI show, so that was a plus bonus for us.

Have fun.

Hi All

Thanks very much - Waterworld added to the agenda - have just been watching a bit of the show on Youtube and it looks great - see what you mean about sitting too near the front!

Hello,

I have just done Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida and my daughter and I saw so many rides by doing the single riders. Each one was no more than 15 minutes whilst the queue was over an hour. Armed with a map of the Studos it was easy to plan what we wanted to go on. Bags are left in lockers as you go around.

Not sure how the West Coast studios work but are probably similar.

Have fun
