Hi

Just read a message about the update regarding the Yangtze add on. I have been all through my paperwork throroughly, and there is no mention of any upgrade be it for different dining rooms or anything. I have received several copies of the same info, but nothing about the boat on the Yangtze. I did phone up and asked if I would be sleeping near the engines and was assured that they are at the back of the boat and I was at the front, but no mention was made about different dining rooms, I hope I will not be dining alone!

your comments would be welcome.

If you do decide to upgrade your cabin I know that you will not be eating alone. Last I heard was that there are 12 of us doing the cruise and some, if not all, have upgraded because you get far better meals.

Looking forward to meeting up at Heathrow.

Hello Carol

The upgrade is mentioned in the JY holiday book. In the section that gives details of the itinerary on the cruise. I did not book the upgrade straight away. However, there have been some comments on the forum, from passengers who have done the cruise, regretting the fact that they had not upgraded because of the far better conditions that the upgraded passengers get. When I phoned JY to enquire about the upgrade they said that they would phone me back, which they did within half an hour, and I booked it then. The cost was £109.00 but it seems to be still good value. I did not know that there were 2 dining rooms on the boat, and I am still a bit credulous about it. What it maybe ,is that the dining room is split into 2. One area for the diners who get what they are given, and the other area for the upgraded passengers who get choices. As one passenger put it, who did not upgrade, they got the left overs.

Hi

thanks Ben.

I apparently missed the phone call yesterday !

Got call today from a Rionne, a very helpful lady, who is going to sort me out.

The standard cabin has buffet style dining, with the upgrade you get a la carte dining, plus tea and coffee facilities in the cabin, eitherway the food is prepared in the same kitchin.

Rionne is looking into the upgrade for me and will get back to me with the cost etc. then I will make up my mind which to go for. She also said that out of the 12 going on the river, 6 have upgraded so far and 6 are still going for standard so nobody will be dining alone.

I hope my experience is helpful to others.

See you all at Heathrow

Hi Ben

today is the 14/08, just had a phone call from 'Emma', she has managed to get me the upgrade on the Yangtze for the cost of £109.00, very good service. So I now will not be trampled on by everyone trying to get to the buffet at the same time.

with regards the trip on the internal flight, why can't we use our normal trolly type hand luggage? surely if it fits one airline overhead locker it will fit them all.

Good afternoon Carol,

The internal flight is hand luggage only, we have always advised take a small holdall, this is due to the difference in weight, I think the business has always assumed customers would pack more in a case for the entire duration therefore it would be heavier and wouldn't be allowed as hand luggage. Weights will be confirmed in your final information however so it's best to wait to make your decision when you have received them.

I'm really pleased you got your upgrade sorted out, if I can be of anymore help, please just ask,

Kindest,

Ben
