Hello Ben,

Can you / team / fellow travellers recommend any reading material which covers the China tour. The ones I have looked at are rather bulky & heavy, I haven't as yet come across a pocket sized guide and I would really like to take it with me to refresh my memory along the way.

Many thanks, Shirley

Good morning Shirley,

It's a great question, I personally have never been to China, hoping to one day! But there are plenty of publications out there which offer detailed insight into the places your tour will visit, I'm sure some forum members will offer advice, but its also well worth looking on Amazon or Waterstones, WHSmiths etc as I'm sure the choice will be plentiful.

Kindest,

Ben

Enjoy your trip!

I did the China trip in march this year and took my Kindle loaded with the lonely planet guide to China. I had intended to read up on places as we went along. In reality what happened was that all the guides were so knowledgeable and we were so busy that I didn't think twice about looking at my guide book. Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you Beesky for your thoughts I know you are right about the time and I cant read whilst on the move but think I will take a pocket size guide just in case...

Hi Shirley,

The Berlitz Travel Guide to China is available in W H Smith or Waterstones. In Jersey it costs £6.99 but it is worth the money. It includes maps of Beijing and Xian and a few helpful phrases in Chinese/English. It also tells you a bit about the places you will visit including the Temples.

Have a nice holiday

Peter
