Hi Ollie,

Why does 'Just You' no longer send out helpful information about a holiday at the time of booking.

It used to be that when you got your booking confirmation, you also received really useful info. on currency, clothing, climate, food, optional excursions etc. Now the information, which is not as comprehensive, comes with your tickets 2 weeks before you travel. This doesn't give much time to organise money etc. I am sure this would answer many of the questions which you receive on the Community Notice Board.

Please can you ask 'the powers that be' to consider doing this again.

Thanks

Helen

Hi Helen

We do still send out information 12 weeks before you travel, and this contains some of the details you mention. If you have a holiday coming up soon, it's possible that you may not have received this. Please give us a call on 0844 567 8844 if you think you have missed out.

So rest assured, we are still providing this useful information.

Kind regards

Hi Ollie

I agree with Helen, I have not received a 'Helpful Information' leaflet for my past 3 or 4 holidays. I think Helen is referring to the photocopied leaflet that used to be sent out for each individual holiday destination not the Holiday Handbook that covers holidays in general, I always found these leaflets really useful as they gave climate details, food and drink prices etc so you had quite a lot of information well in advance, I to would like to see these leaflets back.

Thanks for the reply and I will ring the number you have given me.

However, I would add that, in the past year, I have been to Peru and Japan, and am going to Brazil and Argentina in 4 weeks time, and on none of these trips have I received information 12 weeks before. I have not received any info until 2 weeks before I was due to go.

Have I just been unlucky?

Hi Helen and Avocet

My understanding is that this info is always sent out unless you have booked after that time. But thanks for letting me know - I will look into this.

I agree with all the comments. I used to get more information relating to the holiday I had booked, some of which I still have to remind me of the holiday. I think the bigger the organisation the less helpful they become.

When I rang the Just You no the other day the man who answered wasn't sure which company he worked for!!

Hi Olly

Well now I am confused because you say useful holiday information is still sent out 12 weeks before you travel, but when I rang 0844 567 8844 as you suggested I was told by a very helpful customer service lady called Bev that the only holiday information JY send out is 2 weeks before you go. When I suggested this was a bit late she said she would pass on my comments and referred me to a website called www.worldtravelguide.net where she said I could find out a lot of information about India (my next and 11th JY holiday). I always trawl through books in the library before I book a holiday to a particular destination anyway, but this still isn't the same as getting the information about your own JY holiday. How times are changing!

Hello all,

I can confirm that we send out a Holiday Information Pack around 15 weeks before departure (not 12 weeks, as I mentioned above). This includes provisional flight times, details of pre-bookable excursions, plus information on health & safety and holiday options, such as executive lounges, coaches and taxi transfers.

Kind regards,

Hi Olly

I now realise that you are referring to the 'Holiday Handbook' which is sent out at time of booking, which really only contains info about airports etc.

I am referring to the printed sheets, specific to the particular holiday which you have booked. I believe they were discontinued sometime in 2009, when there was a change of databases. They were so useful as they contained average temp. for each month of the year, recommended currency, approx prices of optional excursions, voltage etc. As you received this information when you booked, you had time to think about what trips you might want to do, how much it would cost, what clothes were needed, without having to rush it all at the last minute.

Sorry to go on about this, but I have done quite a few 'Just You' holidays, and I am sure I am not the only one who misses them. For instance, I am going to Argentina & Brazil in September, so need two different currencies, and probably some US Dollars as well, but as I have no idea how much trips will cost or what I might want to do, I need to wait until 2 weeks before I travel to start organising money.

Please, can you use your influence, and see if we can get the 'Helpful Information' sheets produced again

Thanks

Helen

Hi All,

When I booked my first holiday with Just You last year and my holiday this year I received a Holiday Handbook with all sorts of useful information, with the confirmation Invoice.

Hi Helen

I will pass on your comments.

You may not know that you can find some of the information you mention on our website. The essential information pages are worth a look:

http://www.justyou.co.uk/customer-support/essential-information/

And I'm always happy to help with other information!

Hi Helen,

Thank you for raising this issue and just to let you know I would also appreciate more information. I haven't travelled with JY before so I don't know the sheets you are talking about, but i've been on many holidays and never had to wait until just before travelling for all the helpful information. I like the idea of 'Helpful Information' sheets sent out at the time of booking! It would certainly be less stressful when going on a slightly different type of holiday.
