Hi Olly,

In my humble opinion the 'Tour Managers' forum is a waste of time. It rarely gets any decent threads and you yourself said in a recent post that very few tour managers actually use it.

May I suggest that you delete that forum and replace it with something more useful and interesting.

How about a forum called 'hints and tips'?

Or better still replace it with a gallery dedicated specifically for members photos similar to that which we had on the old forum.

Hi Julian

I am hoping that more tour managers will join us in the future, so I wouldn't want to lose this category. Please mention the Community to the tour managers on your trips - it may be that they don't know about it, and it would be great to have their expertise on board. A few of them already make a big contribution and the more we have, the better.

As for the tips page, one of the weaknesses with the old Community was that there were too many categories, so we slimmed down the list to four when we launched the new version. There used to be a section on tips but it wasn't used much. Also, I think many people fill their messages with hints and tips, whichever category they are using.

Photos are now attached to messages rather than stored in a separate forum, as the photo category was another that wasn't widely used.

Thanks for your suggestions. We will keep them in mind for the future.

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

Hi Olly, I agree with Julian that a separate hints and tips section would be very useful, as the "say hello" section is overloaded and can be very tedious to wade through and too easy to miss a useful thread. Also how about a "newbie" section, so all those visiting for the first time and worrying about travelling alone could read similar posts instead of all those very repetitive messages clogging up the "say hello" section?

Cheers

Bob

Hi,

Actually I think the 'Tour Managers' section should stay. I have used it a number of times and it has been very useful.

Perhaps not enough of the tour managers use it, but some of them like Daniel Adams use it all the time and the information he gives is so helpful. He will always answer any questions that people post and it would be a sad loss if this were to go.

I have also used it to post messages to tour managers when I have returned from a trip and I know others do too. Some of us want to say a personal 'Thank You' and this is a good way of doing it.

I for one would be sorry to see it go.

Best wishes,

Lesley

Hi Lesley

Don't worry, the tour manager section won't be going anywhere. As I mentioned to Julian, I'm optimistic that more tour managers will sign up in the future.

And Bob, I do see where you are coming from but unfortunately people don't always post their messages in the most relevant category, so we decided it would be best to keep the number of them to a minimum. In fact we used to have a category called 'First Single Holiday' on the old Community but very few people used it. This could be something we look at again at a later date but for now we will stick with four.

Hi Olly and others

A suggestion from me would be that the FAQs should be in a more prominent position than where it is situated now.

Regards

Sylvia

Hi Sylvia

Thanks for your idea. I will look at adding more links to the FAQ page.
