Hi Joolsg,

The currency for Iceland is the Icelandic Krona. It can sometimes be difficult to get hold of in the UK but worth having a look around for the best rates.

Speaking from experience, the first time I went to Iceland I had to have it ordered in, the second time I didn't bother and just exchanged money when I arrived.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Joolsg

If you can't get any krona before you go, there is a Currency Exchange desk at Reykjavik airport, on the left as you come out of baggage reclaim. Also, if you are staying at the Grand Hotel, as we did, there is an ATM to the right of the front door in reception.

Have an amazing time - I was on the March trip last year and it was super. Happy to help if you have any questions.

All the best

Mandy

Hi Jools,

Just to re-iterate, very easy to obtain krona at Reykjavik airport - ATM very easy to see and to use (as is everything in Iceland)

Enjoy,

Valerie

Last time I went 2 years ago, we were advised to change our money back at the airport, where you were served by a person not a machine at the exchange place, and they took the Icelandic notes and coins from you in exchange for uk notes and uk coins, so that might be useful to know for you.

And keep your receipts for any gifts etc as you can reclaim the VAT at the airport.
