I have been holidaying on my own since I was widowed 3 years ago and must admit to finding it hard going. Just found this site and any advice would be welcome as to suitable destinations for activity holidays. I have visited lots of places in Europe, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore but get bored lying on a sunbed and need some action.

Walking has always been a great passion, especially the long distance footpaths  in the UK but the knees are not what they were and walking 20+ miles a day is no longer an option. If anyone can recommend any walking holidays abroad where the daily distance is no more than 10 miles, or any other suitable activity that would be a big help.

Welcome to you

I have done many holidays with JY since 2006, but I tend to go for the full on touring sightseeing tours, so I cannot comment on a proper walking tour. Have you had a look in the review section to see if there are any walking reviews that might help you. I hope some one that has done a proper walking tour leaves you a comment.

In the mean time JY are a great company to go with and the age range and mix of people work really well, Good Luck.

Hi

Why don't you look at the Just You brochure as there are some walking holidays on offer?

Hi JY activity holidays are a pretty new development over the last couple of years, so there aren't many reviews of them on the forum to date.  If you go to the home page on the website and choose "Active" on the search panel for type of holiday, a list of them will come up.  I know a couple of people who have enjoyed some of the JY Active tours - and the Active Croatia one seems to be very popular although it includes cycling and, I think, kayaking as well!  I would say that any of the JY walking tours would be fine for you if you can walk up to 10 miles a day!!  These tours are not for me but I hope you choose one and have a great time!

All the best,

Bob

Thanks to you all for the responses. BGray - the Active Croatia one you mention sounds just up my street with cycling and kayaking as well. I will investigate, cheers.
