I just wondered if anyone has flown with Avianca (internationally) and would be willing to share their experiences with me.

I am interested in the TS holiday to Peru and as I live in London would be travelling from Heathrow to Lima via Bogotoa. I don't usually let a few negative reviews put me off but most of those I have read are not very encouraging and this seems to be holding me back from booking it.

I need to book a summer holiday. There are many Just You holidays I am interested in but I have a very limited time in which I can go and none of those that I am interested in tie in with my dates.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Hi flipflop

Although not an international flight, I recently flew an internal flight with Avianca in Guatemala. Like you I had read the reviews and was a little anxious however I needn't have been. They were very clean, efficient and a modern aircraft. Indeed, living near Heathrow as I do, I often see their planes and am generally impressed with their fleet. I certainly wouldn't let this put you off going on what looks like an incredible holiday.

Thank you sallyc for your words of encouragement. I think I need to just get on with booking the holiday and stop over thinking it!

Hi flipflop

The TS tour of Peru is very much a wonderful and memorable tour which you will not regret and if you get Rosario as your TM she will undoubtedly look after you, I wouldn't let what you read about the airline put you off, some of these lesser known airlines are a million times better than the bigger ones, we flew with Malaysia to Vietnam last year and couldn't fault them and we flew to Lima with KLM via Amsterdam from Birmingham who were wonderful, if you were a little dubious about who you fly with I suppose you could always travel up to Birmingham for example and take a different route via another airline but certainly don't let who you fly with put you off, i'd book it

regards

Thank you Dave for taking the time to reply, it's good to hear from someone who has been on the holiday and recommends it. I did consider travelling up to Birmingham and flying with KLM but think I have now made up my mind to go from Heathrow and fly with Avianca

Hi Flipflop.

My fiancée & I did the TS trip to Peru last year and it was an incredible trip and if you decide to go for it you will not be disappointed. We also did the Amazon add on which if you can do as well is a must see.

We flew with LAN airlines last year so I cannot comment on Avianca but having done a number of JY holidays before as well as the TS holiday and all the airlines they have used both internationally and internally have always been fine.

If you are travelling as a single on the TS holiday I can say there were 7 singles on our trip to Peru and everyone mixed together really well.

One tip for Peru is that the TS holiday goes a lot higher than the JY one so take some electrolyte tablets with you to dissolve in water to help combat any effects of altitude sickness.

If you decide to go have a great time.

Cheers Keith.
