Hi

Just wondering with the Yosemite and Classic California tour holiday coming up soon has anyone else booked the excursions. I know there are a couple of the excursions you will need to book before the holiday starts so don't miss out. I have booked the following excursions:

LA - Evening Dinner

Las Vagas by Night

North Grand Canyon - Helicopter Flight

San Francisco Evening Tour

San Francisco Sea Plane Flight

San Francisco Escape from the Rock

Sedona - Red Rock Jeeps

Would love to hear from anyone flying from Heathrow on the 16th May. I have decided to go up the day before and stay at the Holiday Inn Arial anyone else staying there on the Sunday night would be nice to met up. Also spending money how much are people taking!

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Ali49,

Yes, I'm going on this trip, also from Heathrow. I'll probably be staying over in London the day before but I'm going to wait until the flights have been finalized before booking a hotel. Regarding the optional excursions, I'm doing similar to you but not the flights. I'll probably do the Hoover Dam and feel that Las Vegas by night would be better by foot. I've been before and it was good doing it that way.Look forward to meeting you. Not long now ! 🙂

I am going on this trip too, just booked it today. I'll be staying over in London the night before too, and JustYou have recommended the Leonardo, Heathrow hotel. Don't know if that's near your hotel Ali. This will be my first solo trip, so quite apprehensive. I haven't booked any trips yet, but a couple of them look interesting so may well do them.

Hi there, I've just booked this trip today, so really looking forward to it, although as this is my first solo trip, I am quite apprehensive.    JustYou have recommended the Heathrow Leonardo hotel as I will have to come down on the Sunday and stay over, don't know if that's near your hotel Ali.   Haven't booked any excursions yet, but a couple look interesting so I may book them.

Hi Isobel

I am glad there is someone else doing there first solo trip. I am very apprehensive never done this before or visited America. The hotels are on Bath Road but this road seems to be very long shame we are not at the same hotel it would of been nice to met up. I am still wondering what clothes and how much money to take. Look forward to meeting you at the airport I am sure this will be a holiday to remember.

Hi Ali, well, at least two of us are in the same boat!  I too don't know what to take and am worried about getting it all into one case.    My husband and I used to visit America often -- it is a great place and although each part of it is very different, we didn't manage to find a place we didn't like.   I am currently panicking about getting clothes washed over there to rewear - how sad is that!  Any advice on what to take would be much appreciated.

Hi Isobel

I am still wondering what to wear over there. Can't believe it is only three weeks time. I will take a mixture of clothes. Not sure about footwear!

Hi Ali

I am going to take a pair of trainers and a couple of pairs of sandals - one for day and one for night.   I am hoping that dinner will be casual, although I will bring a couple of nice tops to wear.     I can't be bothered, nor do I have the room for, formal dressing up clothes.    America is usually really casual, so hope that's the case with this trip.     Just got confirmation today that there is room for me on the flights and the hotels, so really, really pleased about that.     So I can't believe how quick it is coming up - I usually book well in advance!   Less time to get really anxious and apprehensive, though I'm sure I can fit plenty of that in before we go.

Isobel.

When we went last year the tour guide recommended closed toes for I think Yosemite because of the risk of getting bitten. Not everyone had them and I think most people were ok but were covering themselves in deet or equivalent just in case! We were there in early September so not sure how the temperatures compare now but something to think about.

Dress code you've got it right - we were all pretty casual with some nice tops for some of the evenings - mainly when you had two nights in one place so Las Vegas and San Francisco in particular from what I remember. There were laundrettes in some if not all of the hotels as our driver and tour guide were definitely washing their stuff on route. I managed to take just enough but don't think washing would be a problem plus there are plenty of shopping options along the way!

You will have an amazing time, it's such a good trip. If you think of anything else you want to know just shout

Hi AMG, that's really useful information about Yosemite thanks for that. Glad to hear too that there are plenty of shopping options, I love to shop over there. Is it possible to pay for extra luggage on the way home do you know?

That I don't know sorry and I don't know of anyone who did it on our trip. You'll have such a brilliant time, I loved all of it - some bits I knew I would like the Grand Canyon but others like Monterey were a lovely surprise and we all wished we'd had a bit longer there.

Thanks for replying.  Hopefully won't need to, but I'll find out when I'm there.   Really excited now, not long to go at all.

Hi All

Just read your posts, & thought I would introduce myself.

I'm also going on the 16th from Heathrow, & It's also my first time.

Booked quite a few of the excursions myself as well.

Look forward to seeing you all, & maybe we should all try & meet at a coffee shop on Airside before we fly?

Steve
