A late booking and just confirmed - is anyone else on the forum booked on this date? Looking forward to meeting my holiday companions.

I've never been to Malta before and am really looking forward to exploring both islands as well as "chilling out".

If anyone has been on this trip it would be good to have their thoughts too. I will also have a search through the messages for any Malta postings. Ordered a Top Ten guide book today...........

Can't be just me! Currently sitting in a cafe having a coffee before returning to farm sitting duties - have spent the time looking up info on Malta, in particular Mdina.

If you have been on this trip can I ask if you saw displays of glass blowing? Also where you found the best prices for true Mdina glass? Willing to risk bringing a couple of not too expensive bits home in my suitcase .......

Would love to hear from fellow travellers or those who have already done this trip. 🙂

Hi there! I'll be joining you on this trip (both Malta and Gozo). Never been to either before but grew up with my sailor father praising them both, especially Gozo, so am very much looking forward to seeing them for myself.

Hi

Hurrah - another traveller!

Just to clarify I am doing 7 nights in Malta and the extension of 4 nights in Gozo. So I may not do the day trip to Gozo, but plan on doing the day trip to Mosta village, Ta'Qali and Mdina, and hopefully the day trip to the pre-historic temples.

Bought a swimming costume today! Less than 2 weeks to go……...

Hi Kedi

You will be able to see glass blowing at Ta'qali.

Have been to Malta and Gozo loads of times independently.Buses cheap. The 645 service-presuming it still runs, goes from Valletta all along the coast to Cirkewwa, where you get the ferry to Gozo. 20 minutes on ferry to Gozo.

Enjoy your holiday

Di

Thanks for the response Di

Hopefully the glass blowing will be part of that day trip. I love glass and crystal and despite trying to 'downsize' my clutter I am always a sucker for things that catch my eye!

I did read that the buses are cheap and plentiful - will probably be bussing about rather than sitting by the pool - not really my scene. Looks like there will be places to walk to from the hotel too - love my coffee (& ice cream) and even better in a little cafe overlooking a harbour or the sea. (Not a fan of big hotels)

From what I have read it sounds as though Malta and Gozo are both great for independent travel. So much to see. Not sure about the Segway tour in Valletta as highlighted by another JY traveller! However you never know……….

Thats so cool, see you all there. Not long to go now, hope we see one another before we get on plane.

Last time I went with Just Y I was introduced to the other JY travellers in the airport wen I checked in.

So looking forwards to it and to meeting everyone 🙂

Gozo extension - received a letter stating our hotel on Gozo has been changed. The new hotel sounds rather isolated on a cliff top! Don't seem to be any nearby bars or restaurants or shops, no sea front or beach or harbour in walking distance. Not even sure about local bus service - quite a walk away I think. Will be phoning Monday to try and get a better picture - the new hotel is advertised as "an island within an island" and "perfect for couples and families"????

Gozo extension Had a long conversation with Deena (who was lovely!) who assured me that the new hotel looked wonderful. I have asked for it to be noted that I was concerned about the 'isolation', lack of nearby local facilities outside the complex, transport. I know the island is small but there is a difference in being able to walk to a shop, bar, restaurant or beach and having to get a 'shuttle', bus or taxi. Still I am really looking forward to exploring the island, relaxing in the pool and the sunset views along the cliff top.

Seems it is eight ladies on the extension to Gozo - look forward to meeting you all, as well as the rest of our party in Malta. Just a few days to go. I hadn't realised it was the 50th anniversary of independence so I expect there will be some fireworks during our stay!

Not only fireworks - the Malta air show starts on 27 September - sadly the day we leave Gozo for home, but we may see some displays before the day or on our way to the airport.

I am also informed that there is the opportunity to do a Segway tour of St Paul's Bay! Maybe not……...

Hi Kim

Good to see you got home safely - the holiday was indeed great fun - hope you got your new brochure!

The Gozo girls all send their best wishes - it is still HOT here but not so humid. Off on the Gozo grand tour with Alfred tomorrow.

I finally managed to go snorkelling today - can't use the hotels private beach as it is closed due to the Brad Pit/Angelina Jolie filming. Some of the girls visited Victoria and the Citadel and the rest had an adventure in the local village when a local elderly lady invited them into her home.......

Hope we can keep in touch.
