Hi

I tried posting this yesterday but it seems to have gone astray so apologies if this appears twice.

I am considering booking Costa de la Luz for September/October. I notice that there are room upgrades available eg £80 for a front sea view. Can anyone who has done this trip tell me if paying the upgrade is worth it or are the standard rooms adequate?

Thanks

Jean

Hi Jean

I am going on the 18th June and have actually gone for that date specifically because there was still an upgrade available. A friend who went on the trip last year said that the rooms are certainly worth the money and that they sell out first. Certainly the other dates I tried for had none left.

Good luck.

Hi Jean

I did this trip last May and I did not know that you could upgrade for a room with sea view so did not do so. But having said that I had a very big standard room with good views of the swimming pool and the sea from my room window. I met a lady who had a room with the sea view - the rooms were a bit closer to the sea. The sea is very near the hotel - you just walk across a short private bridge. I guess it would be worth upgrading if you mean to spend all your free time in the room, otherwise I personally would not do so. Hope this helps.

By the way you will have a great time as Costa de la Luz is lovely.

Thanks Jools and Jaya for your replies. Mmm, what to do? Jaya, did your standard room have a balcony? This is more important to me than a sea view.

Thanks

Hi Jean

I have paid the extra for balcony room with sea view also as I am a light sleeper you sometimes hear noise from the swimming pool as on previous trips to other places. Going on the 11th June I will let you know what the room is like. Shame we have to pay extra for little luxuries but you only live once!!!

Thanks Di. I am a light sleeper too so would definitely prefer a quieter room, whether or not it has a sea view. I hope you, and Jools, have a great time and look forward to hearing about it when you get back. By the way I'm off to the Croatia's Istrian Coast trip next week. Really looking forward to it.

Hi Jean

No my standard room did not have a balcony though others did. Even though my room faced the swimming pool it was very quiet. I used to have a brief siesta after the excursions and it was never noisy.

The other thing that my friend mentioned was that a couple of people with standard rooms complained about noise from the road. So if you don't upgrade it might be worth putting in a request for a room well away from it.

My room did not face the road, but as far as I remember the road was not very busy in May. Not sure how busy it would be at other times. In fact there was hardly any traffic on the way to most of the excursions.
