Just need a bit more convincing to book a JY holiday. Anyone willing to give me a push?

What about those "days at leisure to explore on your own"? Love to explore but not on my own.

Hi Liz,

I'm willing to give you a push!!

Am going on my 2nd JY holiday to China in May which I am really loking forward too.

although it does say 'explore on your own' I can assure you that there will be other people who think the same and you will find others to explore with.

Hope this helps.

Oh you really should. I'm totally new to this and not been on one yet but hoping to do china this year. I'm jumping in with both feet as I'm a very sociable person and im sure everyone else will be or they probable wouldnt be doing this sort of thing. Im hoping i will have made some friends to explore with when the time comes. I cant imagine everyone just going separate ways. I imagine it will be a case of someone saying at breakfast "who fancies exploring the market with me? "

Can't tell you about Istanbul but can put your mind at rest about the explore on your own bit.

You will definately not need to go on your own, you will make friends and others will explore with you either in groups or pairs. The on your own bit just means not an organised excursion with the tour manager.

Hi Liz

You're never on your own during a JY holiday unless you chose to be. One of the many roles of the rep is to ensure that no one gets left out.. Generally it is easy to find other people who want to do what you want to on the leisure days and the rep facilitates that if necessary.

I can't recommend these holidays enough - I've been doing them for ten years now and have loved every single trip. You are with a group of like-minded people, in beautiful surroundings, having an amazing holiday. You will never laugh so much and as soon as you get home you'll find yourself thumbing through the brochure for your next trip.

Once you take the leap I promise you will wish you'd done it sooner.

Hello Liz,

I have to admit that I do not mix very easily but having just booked my 9th JY holiday I have never been left on my own unless I wanted to be.

I have been on the Istanbul holiday and it is one of the most fascinating places with the mix of European and Asian. Plenty planned if you want to join in plus time to wander around the Grand Bazaar which is like something out of 1001 nights.

You will enjoy!

David.

Hi Liz, after reading your post I had a quick look at the Istanbul tour to confirm what I thought - and as I suspected you won't really be left to your own devices for long! On the two free days, there are a number of optional excursions which nearly everyone does on these tours. They will take up most of your free time and I am sure they are well worth doing - I always do the optional excursions on all my holidays and they are great. You might have a couple of free hours here and there, as others have said you can easily hook up with a couple of others and go exploring or go for a dip in the hotel pool or do what I often do and go for a lie down in my room and read for an hour or two or get in a quick nap before dinner - a lot of people also go to the hotel bar for a social drink or two before dinner as well. Go for it, I am positive you won't regret it!

All the best,

Bob

Hi Liz

I agree with Bob. If you really fancy Istanbul, then go for it. I have been on 4 Just You holidays and have never been left on my own. I too do all the optional excursions as you never know whether or not you will get an opportunity to go back. You will have a great time and I am sure that once you are back you will want to book another holiday with Just You. It is a great company to travel with and you are really looked after from start to finish.

Hi Liz, I used to live in Sofia, Bulgaria and drove down to Istanbul, with friends, regularly as it is such a wonderful, varied and exciting city to visit. BUT, it IS Muslim and you should not walk around alone. The Grand Bazaar is fascinating but the storekeepers are quite aggressive in their 'marketing' and it CAN be intimidating. Go with an open mind; be modest in dress and you'll love it! Ahlan! 🙂
