Hi,

Having been widowed 3 years ago I now feel able to start travelling alone. However, I am well into my sixties and wouldn't want to stand out as the oldest in the group. Can anyone please give me an idea of the range of ages of JY travellers?

Thanks,

David

David...

Can I assure you, you will not be the oldest in the group...I have been away with people in their 80's. you would fit in fine, there will be younger and older than you I am sure. Just a word of warning there are more ladies than men ha ha ha.. You will be fine I have been on 8 tours so if I can help with anything just ask..

Hi David,

This question has been dealt with many times and if you look in the "share travel tips" part of this forum you will put your mind at rest.

http://www.justyou.co.uk/forum/thread-51972.html

But to put your mind at rest you'll be fine and very much doubt you'll be oldest, ages do range from 20's to 80's but the majority of tranellers seem in their 50's & 60's.

I have also been widowed almost 3 years and in my late sixties and went with JY first time last year to Cuba. Had a wonderfull time and lots of friendly people of all ages and no couples to face (I still find that upsetting) It was lovely to have someone to eat a meal with and have a chat I am off to Vietnam and Cambodia on Monday cann't wait.

Go for it, I await to see where you book. I am thinking of South Africa next year. Tricia

Hi David,

As everyone has said there is no need to worry about age, its only a number in my book. I am also off to Vietnam/Cambodia next Monday and this will be my fourth JY trip and really looking forward to it, meeting new people, new experiences etc. If I were you I would pick somewhere that you would really love to see and go for it.

Hope you find something soon, good luck:)

Hello David

I am not sure why people put so much emphasis on age - it is just a number. After all you are only as old as you feel! Just You is the right place to book a holiday as you get people with a wide age range going on their holidays. Pick a destination you always wanted to see and book it. You will have no regrets and have a wonderful time. Life is too short to worry about little things like age. Go on, just do it and have fun.

Hello David,

Concure with everything that is said above.

Just look on it that you are as young as you feel. ( I have never felt that I am 62 and am just going on 45 )

Have you had longings to see a part of the world? If so go for it !! Just You has many destinations to pick from from the start they will look after you from day one when you book. There is always a tour manager on each holiday and as stated before a wide range of fellow travellers ( discoverers I like to think of us as) of all ages doing exactly what you want to do. If you want to be by yourself and do your own thing on one day, OK, another day you might wish to be with a group and visit this and that or chill out at the pool or bar. Its all up to You.

Enjoy!!!! I am off in 3 weeks to the other side of the world and looking forward to it, no end. Yes I might be a bit reserved but still excited about the forthcoming adventure.

Good luck David and enjoy.

Best wishes

Eric

Hi. First time poster here. I'm looking at JY holidays as a possibility for next year, being a recently widowed male. This year is a bit too soon, to be honest. I'm 52 and from what I've read, the age range (majority in 50s and 60s) seems ok for me.

You will fit in fine with the age group in fact you might be a young one !!! I hope that you can find a tour that you will feel able to book in the future. I know that many people who travel with JY have been widowed so I wish you well.

Thanks Cindy.

I'm leaning towards mixing my future holidays between JY tours and solo city breaks.

i was worried that i may be of a different age group to the people who enjoy these holidays but now that i have read some of your community messages regarding age and feeling that someone might not fit in, i feel more confident about booking one of your trips.

Hiya All.

There is a theme running here I see, a very helpful post, has answered my main question, all I need now is the money and conviction to go on a holiday, btw I am late 40's.

Start saving and go for it...I am sure if penny's are tight you can pay the deposit and then pay monthly or when you have some cash as long as it is all paid by the due date that's fine. Have fun where do you fancy going??

Im trying to stash some cash now, but will need lots and lots.

Where do I want to go...

Cuba

China

Costa Rica

Ankor Wat etc etc

All over the world

To be honest I have done a fair bit of travelling prior to becoming single.

In my experience age isn't at all important, the hard bit is often making the first step, once you're done that it gets easier !

(I'm not sure if JY would be happy to be paid in installments, but even if they would, a better suggestion would be to put the money into some kind of savings account, and get the interest - even if this would only be a small amount with low interest rates).

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Been looking through the Brochure that arrived on my door mat.

I have got a lot of saving to do!

To be honest I have done a fair bit of travelling prior to becoming a single traveler.

Would like to start on page 1 and work to the back of the book, but might find something a little easy to start with.
