Hello Steve and welcome to JY

I went on this Hong Kong and New Zealand tour in January 2012 what would you like to know?

There is so much to see and do on this tour and it is well worth going on.

The weather in HK was not good to us so we did not get the views that we wanted but we had fun.

NZ is a stunning country to visit and in the time there you do see a lot of both the islands. I went on a helicopter flight and landed on the snow covered mountain which was a high light. I also found Milford Sound breath taking.

There are many hotels to stay in and many hours sitting on a coach but all in all I am very glad I went on this tour.

If there are any questions I can help with just ask away. This was my 8th JY tour.

I did in fact take a lot of money in cash as we were told that none of the extra excursions could be paid for by credit card, or paid this end before we left, but I did infact put the helo ride on a card in the end.

I took £100 in HK $ which would of been enough but when we got there the rep had a couple of other things we could do so ended up putting £150.00 on a credit card. I did this as the weather was bad and did not fancy tracking around in the bad weather so ended up going on what was offered.

The rest was in NZ $ ..I actually came back with £1000.00 as I had planned to do more helo and scenic flights but only managed 1 due to weather in NZ as well.

I only put the couple extra bits in HK on my card everything else I paid cash as I went. People were having no problems getting money out along the way from ATMS etc.

There were about 35 of us I think. I would say a whole tour group went. Great bunch of people more ladies than Men age range 35-70's.

Hi Steve,

I'm on the Singapore, Australia and New Zealand trip in October. Never been to New Zealand before so I am expecting it to be a BIG adventure and exciting.

Regarding cash etc, I am taking a small amount for each country but will be having all my spending money on a prepaid Master / Visa card. Will also take a credit card as back up but planning not to use it. Also when I travel I take around £100 in sterling, just in case!

If you can wait for my testimonial till end of November I can give you a better idea how New Zealand is.

Have a wonderful time when you decide to take the plunge,

Regards

Eric.
