Hello Everyone!

Just wondering whether anyone else is going on this trip? It's my first time with Just You and to be honest, I'm getting a little apprehensive!! :-/

Are we going to be met at Heathrow by a Just You Rep? Also does anyone know whether the rooms we are staying in already have mosquitos nets or whether we have to take our own? If we have to take our own, anyone know how we are supposed to fix them in the rooms? lol

It would be great if some of my fellow safari goers could come by and say hi. :-)

Hi Marie

I did this trip last year, Don't panic the nets are in the hotel rooms already fixed up. There is usually a rep to see you through the booking in side of things at LHR, and I met the main rep in the executive lounge along with my other fellow travellers. You will be fine and have a great holiday, I loved it..take plenty of wet wipes, tissues and hand gel cleaning stuff, as some of the toilets are not the best.

Hi Marie,

I'm going on the Magic of Kenya trip but on 28.09.11 and its my first Just You holiday so also apprensive. I'm sure i've read somewhere that both the lodge and hotel have the nets in their rooms. Just make sure you take the maximum strength with deet repellent spray - i've got the 'jungle' one that lasts for 12 hours and will take two (its on offer in Asda at £5 at the moment). Lets hope we both have a fabulous holiday and i'm sure we will!!!!!!!!

Regards

I am sure you will have a great time. Like you I will be going on my first holiday alone and am already nervous even though I am not going until next June. I like reading other people's experience there as it gives me the encouragement I need not to bottle out. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

I have just booked up the Kenya trip for next June and like other people I am nervous about going alone and not making friends. I love reading how other people have enjoyed it in the past as it gives me the encouragement that I need. I am looking forward to it, I think but it would be great to hear from people who have booked up the 6th June so that we can chat and I can get to know someone before leaving. It would really help to hear from people perhaps in my position.

Thanks

Hi Denise,

Glad to hear from you - I was starting to think I was going it alone on safari!! :)

I'm fine thanks, how are you? I just have to get my travel insurance sorted, pick up my Malaria tablets, pack and I'm sorted! I'm getting excited but also a little nervous now.

I'm in Berkshire, whereabouts are you?

Definitely happy to text/chat.

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your message. I had thought (from looking at the hotel pictures) there were nets already up but just wanted to check! I've got my hand gel and wet wipes - I recently did a charity trek across the Sahara so I can handle toilets which are on the grotty side. 🙂

Glad to hear that you loved it, I'm excited and can't wait to see the animals.

Hi Sue,

I hope so - I've been looking forward to seeing the animals for ages! 🙂

I had the same reservations about going, not making friends and even getting lost in the airport - all sorts of things. I am a little more reassured from peoples' postings on here, all seem to have had a great time.

I will definitely let you know how I get on and hopefully you can get chatting to some of your fellow safari goers before you depart.

Hi Marie,

I know there doesn't appear to be anyone else on here who is going on 14th Sept trip!

I was wondering what luggage you are taking for the first 3 safari days.....

My e-mail is **** if you want to chat offline.....

Look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

Denise

Hi Denise,

I think you're right - it appears to be just the two of us! More room in the van for spotting the animals. 😉

Well I don't think I have developed the knack of a "capsule wardrobe" and will probably take more clothes than I will end up actually wearing!! I am taking (fingers crossed it arrives in time) just some neutral t-shirts/a pair of trousers and a skirt for the game drives. I will be taking things like skirts/dresses for the evening but with 3/4 leggings underneath to try and combat the mosquitos. 😞 Apparently a torch is a handy thing to take with you to the lodge!

Would love to chat offline and hopefully the moderator reading this will put us in touch ... my email address is ***.

9 days. 😃

Hi Marie,

Nice to hear from you!

I have sent an e-mail asking the admin people to send my e-mail to you, so hopefully you will get this.

Have you received the letter about the lounge at Heathrow not being available. Do you know where we will meet the rest of the group and our rep now???

Hope to speak to you soon.

Cheers

A torch is HANDY!!!! but TBH One of the gaurds always excorted us back to our chalets. The torch is handy so you do not squish the lizards under your feet, when they see light they scamper away.

Hi Denise,

I haven't received anything yet but hopefully will do shortly!

I think we have to be at the airport 3 hours beforehand, so I'll probably be arriving around 4.30ish ( or slightly thereafter). I sent a message to Ben (one of the moderators) and he said that our tour manager, Susan Ore, will be meeting us at check in. Apparently there will also be a JY rep in and around the check in bit keeping an eye out for us.

How about we arrange to meet outside the terminal at say 4.45pm and that way, even if we don't find anyone else, we can muddle through together!! haha

See you soon - excited (and trying not to think about the recent event in Kenya!!)
