Hi Carol,

Best to go to your GP practice nurse about injections, as they have the most up-to-date information. I am going to China the week after you - can't wait.

I only had to have one injection - but had others previously when travelling before.

Enjoy your trip!!!

I have made contact with a few people on the trip several people are like me first time single travellers so hopefully we will have a great time

Hi Carol,

I did this trip in March. You are going to have such a good time. It is very action-packed but such good fun.

I was really cold in March - I had never seen a river frozen before - but should be warmer next month. Obviously you will need comfy clothes and sensible shoes for the Great Wall and travelling, but also some glad rags for the special nights.

I had Hep A and also triple vaccine (polio, diphtheria & tetanus) because mine were overdue but ask your doctor and they will advise you - you may not need them.

Adaptors for electrical goods are the Australian type 2 flat moveable pins for some areas and Continental with 2 small round pins for others - but if you have any problems your tour manager will help.

I only took about £50 worth of Yuan and changed the rest in China as the exchange rate is better and they all have to give the same rate. You can change money at hotel reception. Credit & debit cards are a good idea, but remember to notify your band & credit card company so they won't block them. All meals are included but you will need money for drinks, prezzies etc. Don't forget to treat yourself !!

Have a wonderful time - I know you will.

Be happy,

Best wishes,

Hi Lesley

Thanks for that very useful info

I'm going on the 27th and taking in the Yangze Cruise (seems I might be the only one given the quietness of this Board from fellow travellers on that trip  ).

Tricky question I know but if I one was to take cash (sterling) how much would you say is a reasonable amount to cover drinks (if not an alcoholic ! Hic! !) and other bits & pieces please ?

Col 🙂
