I would love to return to the USA and quite fancy the one on offer (apart from the price!), but people keep telling me it is a pain to go to the States these days with all the forms etc., you have to deal with.

Anyone know more about this please?

Thanks.:)

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ . The questions they ask, and the info they require is the same as we used to enter on the old Visa Waiver Form. You will get a reply almost straight away, useful to have a printer on-line so you can print it out and take with you. It is valid for at least two years, next time you go and it's still valid you can amend the details with your new flight and hotel etc.

If you Google searching for ESTA info you will likely get a list of companies who will do it for you FOR A FEE. That only leaves you with the old Custom's form to fill in on the plane, which will be handed to you by the crew, i.e. are you taking a lot of money or fodd stuffs etc?Take a pen with you

Just to add what Peter say's there is now a fee for the ESTA from the official source, it was $14 (less than £9) when i got mine a couple of months ago. It really is easy to do will take 5 minutes and you will get approval confirmed almost straight away.

Mick.

Sorry didn't know about the charging. I filled out my ESTA last year for free and then modified it for this year's trip. No charge for editing an existing valid authourity.

Thats right Peter my first free ESTA had run out (2 years) and had to get another, think they started charging sometime last year. Saying that some of the other companies that do it for you charge upto £50 for what only takes a few minutes on the official site.

My daughter and I went to Boston last month with Virgin-they had a website which charged £29 each and then found a very small link below for the official site for $14. We knew straight away that we had our Esta. Beware have a credit card handy as they do not take debit cards.
