I have just got back from a fantastic time in South Africa, we had a great group and stayed in some really lovely, and different, hotels. A few hints - a South African adapter can be bought at the airport and is needed in some hotels but not others.Prices for food, drink, etc in South Africa are cheap but in Zambia prices go up almost 3 fold so budget for this!We had a few wet and windy days from Cape Town but the weather improved as we moved North and by the time we arrived in Zambia it was 40 degrees. In some hotels you feel like you want to dress up but others are really casual, so packing was a nightmare! There was more travelling than I had anticipated but frequent stops at interesting places made these days go easier. At Kruger and beyond we had no problems with mosquito's but there hadn't been any rain, later on they could be around more. John, our guide, was so knowledgeable and helped make the trip much more interesting. We were very fortunate on our safari's to see the big 5 twice, there were so many animals it was fantastic, but beware the monkeys - they like apples! The Zambia extension of the tour was very relaxing and much needed.Lesley
