Hi Folks, new to all this so any tips and encouragement would be appreciated. I am 41 years old, not well travelled, not a sun lover but longing to visit Canada and the Rockies, perhaps the Alaskan cruise as well if I can get enough time off and enough courage. Has anyone done this trip? If so how did it go? Is anyone planning this around May 2008? If so I would love to hear from you. I live in Northern ireland so would also be interested in meeting the night before to break the ice so to speak.

Janice and Jackie.

I have been on Two trips Boston,New England and New York Sept 2006 and Krakow and the Tatra Mountains May 2007. There is nothing to be scared of the two holidays I have been on were fantastic and I look forward to booking again. I am 48 and age is just a number really, last trip age range was 44-82 ish but we all got on so well. The oldies could sometimes be fitter than the younger ones !!! Ladies do tend to out number the man but both times the men have been made to feel most welcome by the ladies and you just get on with people for the time your away, you dont have to make life long friends just enjoy the week or two.

So please if its a holiday that your interested in make that phone call, I am sure you will have a great time ...ENJOY

Hello Jackie and Cindy,

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, have not been online recently so was thrilled to see your posts tonight. I had to re register as I could not get signed in. I still have not booked anything. Have you, Jackie? Although I live in Northern Ireland, I would have to leave from Heathrow as well. If I pluck up the courage to book I'd consider the pre holiday get together. What part of England are you from? Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Jackie,

Just to let you know I have taken the plunge and booked the Rocky Mountaineer trip with Alaskan Cruise add on for May 2008. I hope you too will pluck up the courage, perhaps we could meet up at Heathrow before the flight to Calgary.

The lady who I booked through (Vicky) was very helpful and took time to answer all my queries no matter how trivial.

By the way, seems to be some problem with signing into this site, this is the 3rd time I have had to register.

Hope to hear from you soon....go on, you can do it!!

Hi Jackie,

This is now the 4th time I have had to register. Logging in is starting to dement me a bit! The trip I have booked is on page 53 of the 2007/2008 JY book. " Canadian Rocky Mountaineer" Holiday Ref SVCRWR flying from Heathrow 15/5/08 (£2099) The Alaskan add on is page 51, cruise ship is "Statendam"

Go for it Jackie! I will be flying from Belfast and I have been told that there is no pre holiday get together as the flight to Canada is an evening flight.

Keep me posted....good luck!
