Hi, need advice, how much do I need to take money wise and what's the currency? Is it a dress up at night type holiday? Any advice would be appreciated, as I have no idea what I need to know regarding this holiday?x

Hi Julie. I have not been on this tour yet, hopefully next May, but I was in the area many years ago. Stunning part of the world. I would imagine that in the evening (like most of the trips I have been on) that it's smart/casual if that helps a bit.

The currency is the Kuna.

Hi Julie L. I have booked this holiday for next May and so looking forward to it. The currency is the Croatian Kuna - as regards how much that depends on what you want to spend it on. I usually work on £50 day equivalent if dinners are provided, I am not sure what the cost of living is like in Croatia. Perhaps others can advise. As for dressing up, apart from Christmas and New Year none of the JY hols I have been on are particularly dressy. Most travellers like to change for the evening but usually smart casual depending on the climate. Hope ths helps.

I returned from this trip last Friday, I had a great week and I am planning to post a review soon which I hope will be useful to you. Just briefly, the Croatian currency is the Kuna of which you get almost 10 to the pound so it is quite easy to calculate back to sterling. If you divide Croatian prices by 10 you won't be far off eg 60 kunas would be about £6. As to how much to take; I didn't want to be left with lots of Kuna, (it's different if you come back with Euro's which you can use on another trip) so I took £150 worth of Kuna. This was enough to pay for lunches, bar drinks, wine, water & tips. My excursions were already paid for when I booked but if you pay for them there it is in Kuna. I did go on a boat trip, cable car and city walls in Dubrovnik which were extra. I didn't spend very much on gifts (the airport takes Euros as well as Kuna). I also had a massage in the hotel salon, again paid for in Kuna, as they didn't take cards. It seems a lot of places don't take cards however in the second hotel there is a cash point machine in the hotel foyer. I ended up drawing another £20 from the cashpoint, (with a card that doesn't charge you any extra) it was probably the massage that blew the budget, but I hope that gives you an idea of how your money goes. As to dressing up, people tend to change for the evening, but its quite casual so you can dress as you feel comfortable.

Hi Julie, I've taken this holiday. It's a really beautiful part of the world.

The Croatian currency is the Kuna, easy to get in the UK. Very roughly 10 Kuna to one pound. If you've got any Euros lying around, take them as well, some of the tourist shops and cafes will take them but you get a better rate with the Kuna.

Tourist-type stuff in the shops is a good price. 12 to 15 Kuna for a coffee in a beach-front café. Around 50p for a bottle of water. I had a half-hour massage in the hotel in Tucepi which was 120 Kuna, much cheaper than the equivalent here. Local buses were very good value too.

It's not really a dressing-up holiday in my opinion. Both hotels' restaurants are large buffet-style (the food was lovely by the way). Maybe pack some heels and pretty tops for the evenings?

If you have any more questions, please just ask!

RM.

I too have just returned from this trip on 12th June. Absolutely brilliant. Met lots of great people and had lots of laughs. Stunning scenery in a beautiful country. Everything others have posted for you is accurate regarding currency, clothing for the evenings etc......alcoholicdrinks especially if they are "local" are approximately half the price they are in the UK. Both hotels were really good, make sure to take your swimsuit the pools are great, the food was tasty......and there was lots of it on the buffet.

Even "eggy bread" !!!! We had a Croatian Tour Manager called Alen who was friendly, helpful and kept us supplied with choccy biscuits on the coach. Hi to anyone who was on the tour and thank you all for making it such fun. Special thanks to Wendy, Neil, Sheila,Kathryn, and Ken and David from NI. Enjoy your trip.

I meant to say also. The sea is wonderful but the beaches are shingly so some waterproof beach shoes would be useful.

The walk from Tucepi to Makarska is great. I was based in Makarska when I went and it's a lovely town.

I believe there is a boat trip to Brac? Nice island.

Hi, i went on the istrian tour a couple of years ago and i found Croatia incredibly cheap. Take into account the optional excursions you may need to pay for, food on the excursions ect... I took £200 and had £50 left.

Hope this helps!
