Hi Everyone
Like Denise, I've also done this tour and you will have a super time.
The hotel is lovely, family run, and in the centre of modern Pompeii, From memory, the roof terrace also has a hot tub. It's a delightful place to sit and socialise with fellow group members over a glass of something chilled at the end of the day, with a spectacular view of Vesuvius. The hotel is also on the same street as a station for the Circumvesuviana train, which shuttles between Central Naples and Sorrento, and so is very handy if you want to get about during your free time. (However, just like the London Underground, keep your bags/phones close as there are pickpockets about).
The hotel is just off the cathedral square and a short walk from the entrance to the Archeological Park of Pompeii. I was there pre-pandemic, so it might no longer be possible, but you used to be able to pay a couple of euros for a trip to the top of the cathedral bell tower and the great views of the town that it offers. The Park speaks for itself - absolutely awesome, particularly the new, and currently ongoing excavations for which a huge temporary roof and viewing walkway has been constructed as it is so precious. I suggest wearing a wide brimmed hat, really comfortable, closed toed, walking shoes and carry a large water bottle as there is very little shade.
Finally, another little tip - if like me you are a fan of gelato or pastries - half way between the cathedral and the Park gates is a legendary local gelato shop/bakery called De Vivo. Trust me - the queues are totally worth it :-)
Happy travels
