Oh dear, I’ve just had ‘that’ phone call ..

My February Australia trip with Travelsphere has been cancelled.

To be honest, though, I’m not that disappointed. February is still too early in my opinion to go travelling again, particularly long haul. Even if it had gone ahead it’s unlikely it would have run as advertised. Compromises would have been inevitable and given the itinerary that would have been very disappointing. So, once again it’s a pleasure deferred.

I was, however, delighted to be able to transfer the booking to September ‘21, so the anticipation starts all over again.

Thanks to all at Travelsphere/JustYou for your flexibility and great customer service.

May I also take this opportunity to wish all the staff and fellow would be travellers a very merry Christmas and a much happier New Year.

Take care everyone,

Roger

That's a shame, Roger, though not unexpected. I hope you'll make it in September.

I've had several tours cancelled and rebooked and cancelled again this year, with two specialist companies, not with JY or TS. Two tours are planned to run at the same time next year, in June and October.

My next JY tour is Canada East to West with Rocky Mountaineer (but without Alaska cruise) on 9th May next year. Obviously I'm worried that even by May nothing is certain. Anyone else on this tour?

So, instead of two big trips this year I now have three next year, with two of them almost back to back! As June and October are both to the USA there is a good chance that the June one may not go ahead, but who knows?

I  join you, Roger, in wishing the staff and travellers the very best for Christmas and New Year!

Stay safe

Ray

Hi Roger

Sorry to hear that, but good news you've moved your booking, I'm hoping that 2021 will mean we can start travelling again, I've got my delayed Uganda trip in June and my Christmas in Australia in December, so hoping I'll get my vaccine jab in time, just in case we need a covid cert to travel. I'm hoping to fill my passport before it expires in 2022.

I agree the JY team have been brilliant, having to deliver the news to us all as our holidays have been cancelled can't be fun, but had great chats with the team.

Best wishes to everyone at JY and my fellow travellers for Christmas and the new year.

Hi everyone.

I hope we can start going on holidays again soon, as I’ve missed meeting new people who hopefully become good friends. I have some great holidays, but then met a gentleman who I thought was my soul mate, but unfortunately it was not to be. Having been widowed for nearly 12 years, I miss going on holidays. Anyone fancy the Barcelona tour either June or September 2021.

Yes, Merry Christmas everyone, including Just You TM's and office workers. . I am pleased that JY got top marks again as best single travellers company and can't wait for next trip. I am looking at June, just to let settle things down first.

Just got my email, my Gorillas in the Mist trip carried forward from 2020 is not going ahead in June; it was expected, but now I have to hope there will be some 2022 dates or a space comes up for the October 2021 trip

I've done so many Just You trips there are not many long hauls ones I haven't done, has anyone spotted any new or relaunched ones?

Hopefully the end is in sight and we can all get back to our travels soon

Hi Tim,

Yes, sadly I got my email confirmation today too. As you say, it was inevitable.

I’m not sure which way to go now. I can’t see Africa being a COVID safe destination for quite some time, which is quite depressing.

So, I might think about a refund this time and see where is ‘safe’ before deciding on the next trip.

My early optimism re Australia in September is waning a bit .. I’ll remain hopeful and keep my fingers crossed !

As for your long haul query, I expect you’ve already ticked Canada off. If not, East to West is brilliant. If it’s a choice, I’d recommend the West. Spectacular.

I wish you good hunting and let us know what you decide re Uganda ...

Cheers,

Roger

Hi Roger and Tim

I too recieved the email about June Gorilla trip and was so disappointed as I was living in hope. Looks as if my hope has been dashed. I had booked this trip in December 2019 and waited patiently for so long. I have not requested a refund but asked for the tour to be transferred to next year (hopefully it will still be on offer next year). Not sure why JY still do not have any published dates for 2022 when other tour companies have had their new brochures out. I keep on hearing that the 2022 dates will first be published on the web site but nothing yet. Now sincerely hoping that Canada East to West trip later this year goes ahead. I feel that nearly 2 years have been lost as far as travel is concerned. If this carries on then I wonder if there will be a tourist industry at all. I am ready and willing to support the travel industry and hope it starts soon before its demise.

Kind regards

Jaya

Hi Roger

Hope you are well

If I can get a date I'll rebook Uganda, like you I have an Australia trip in the future, mine is for Christmas so I'm hoping it will go ahead, had my first jab and have my second booked so I'm ready to fly as soon as things open up again.

I've not been to Canada so will look at that or America if there are any places as I'd like to do the parks trip

I’m now in a bit of a quandary.

I received a call today to see if I would like to rebook my Uganda trip for June or July ‘22. I was also informed about some ‘changes’ ..

Firstly, the Holiday would cost several hundred pounds more.

Secondly, the JY Visa service has now finished. Meaning I would now have to sort this out myself. Not the end of the world, but to have all that taken care of for me was always a big plus in my books.

It’s unclear at this stage whether or not my previously booked Australia trip in September will be affected visa wise, but we shall see.

Some serious and quick thinking is now required ...

Hi RogerT

Thanks for your post. We are very sorry that due to the ongoing pandemic we have been forced to cancel the 2021 Uganda tour, we have been trying to hang on as long as possible to see if we could operate it. There has been an slight rise in cost, unfortunately this is down to unavoidable increases by our on-ground supplier in Uganda, however I am sure the experience will make it all worthwhile.

As for the visa service (for both Uganda and Australia), rather than processing the visa in-house, Just You has partnered with Sherpa, an industry expert who can guide you with extensive information to ensure that you have right travel documentation and easy access to the all up-to-date travel requirements that will ensure you have the best holiday experience. Travel requirements per country, especially during these current times are continually changing; Sherpa offers a complete service that will ensure you have all the current information so that you are good to go when we can all travel again. The new, more comprehensive service will ensure you have a worry free and stress free holiday. There is a link to the service under ‘Visa’ on the tour pages.

We look forward to seeing you on a Just You holiday very soon

Kind regards

Matt

Hi Matt,

I've noticed the Sherpa info panels on the website and think this is a great idea, especially with all the restrictions currently in place and likely to continue for some time to come.

Regarding my Australia tour with TS, currently booked for this Sept, I think I may be transferring my deposit to another holiday next year instead (i.e. not Australia, but another tour).  When would I need to do this by?  From my reading of the T&Cs on the website, it seems to be the case I can change my booking without penalty to another tour up to 45 days before the departure date for the tour currently booked.  Is that correct?

With many thanks and best wishes,

Bob

PS My best wishes to all the team during this very difficult time for you all.

Hi Bob

Thank you for your good wishes to the team, I will pass that on.

Regarding your Australia tour, my advice would be to contact the team early if you are looking to rebook which will give you the choice of all of the available dates for whichever tour you are looking at.

All the best

Matt

I got my call yesterday and have transferred my Uganda trip again, to now be going in June 2022, decided against February as a quick google suggested June onwards was a better time. I had booked the original one for 2020 on the day the holiday was released, so waiting another year is fine.

I know its a bit more money, but then prices have gone up, I spoke with Rozey at Just You who was really helpful and was able to answer all my questions, particularly about what happens if like at the moment the flight would go via a country on the Red list as I really don't want an expensive 2 week stay at a heathrow hotel, she also covered off about if there are still restrictions in Uganda as they are being really careful to minimise the risk of the gorillas catching anything from tourists.

Like Roger I have an Australia trip booked for later in the year, I originally booked for Christmas 2020 way back in April 2019 and had to postpone it a year so hopefully things will be a bit more normal by then

Stay safe everyone

Hi all.

I got the call from Rozey aswell, who was really helpful and have also transferred to June 2022. I didn't want to miss a place. Although prices have gone up (unfortunately thats just life) with the JY goodwill saving its not that much more than the original cost. I've also had a look through the Sherpa link and it seen pretty straight forward to organise an eVISA and looks to be less than £60.

I also have Peru booked for Oct this year so i'm still keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

Hope to meet some of you next June.

Stay safe everyone

Hi Tim and Paula

I too have transferred my Uganda trip to June next year. I had a very good deal for the original booking - I had received £500 off for booking in December 2019. Plus the price was much lower so the new trip is going to be expensive but I think Gorillas are worth the extra expense (they better be there when we trek to find them! :)) My personal thinking is that going forward most tours are going to be expensive and I also doubt if there will be many cheap flights either as both the tourist industry and the airlines have to make up the big losses they have suffered. I feel 2 years have been lost as far as travel is concerned. If it was not for Covid, I would have done Ethiopia, Madagascar, Uganda and Japan (I booked Japan with another company as they had a longer itinerary - but it was not meant to be). Now I will have to rethink which tours to prioritise since I am retiring after next year plus am getting on age wise. I may not be able to do many long haul trips in the future. Still there are many places in Europe I have still to see. I think we can organise E-Visas ourselves. I have done this for Kenya and Myanmar though you have to be very careful to make sure you are getting them through the country's websites and not through agents. Let us all stay positive and hopefully we will be able to travel to 'safe' countries later this year.

Best wishes

Jaya
