Hi Richard

I did this tour with the amazon add on last year but with Travelsphere, you'll be pleasantly surprised with Peru, you'll love it and the jungle is some experience

enjoy

Hi Richard,

I'm thinking of going on the Peru trip with Amazon add-on in August of this year.

Julia; can you tell me how many people have booked for the 25th August date please? I did ask the same question a few months ago, and at that stage you hadn't taken any bookings for this date.

Many thanks

Mike

Hi Richard

I was on the same tour to Peru as Abba Dave.

Whilst Machu Picchu and the mountaiin scenery are so dramatic, Lake Titicaca and the Uros Islands are incredible and Cuzco a splendid city which the Incas thought was the source of life.

Don't let any fog and drizzle bother you on the coast at Lima. Our weather improved greatly after leaving there.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Peruvian holiday, including long days. If you have Rosario as your Tour Manager you will certainly be in excellent hands, as she is the best!!

Kind Regards

Diane

Hi Richard,

I was thinking of doing this trip with the amazon add-on in August of this year.

Julia,

Can you tell me what's happened to the August 2015 departure date as it's disappeared off the website? I rang the office and asked how many people had booked this date just a few weeks ago, and was told that there were no bookings at that time.

Is this a glitch in the system or have all spaces suddenly been booked up! The main tour without the add-on has disappeared as well.

Many thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm afraid to say that a decision has been made to cancel the August date so it will have come off the website.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

Thanks for the info; Maybe I'll consider the 9th June date instead. Can you tell me how many people are booked on that departure please, together with M/F ratio and age group.

As an alternative, I've noticed that Travelsphere have departures (to include an Amazon add-on) on 6th August and 2nd September. Can you tell me if any single people are booked on either of those dates please.

Many thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

At the moment there are 13 booked on the 9th June date 3 men/10 women with ages from late-40s through to early-70s. 9 are on the main tour only and 4 travellers are booked on the add-on.

On the Travelsphere dates, both have single travellers booked.

On the 6th August date there are 4 solo travellers (1 taking the add-on)

On the 2nd September date there are 3 solo travellers (none are currently booked to take the add-on)

Kindest regards,

Julia

I had been planning this trip for August so am very disappointed to see that that month has been cancelled. I hadn’t got as far as checking out the Amazon add-on but, like smudger1, I’m not so sure about it as described.

Seems to concentrate on hiking about inland with rather obscure cultural aims rather than cruising the great River itself, rather like the Yangtze add-on in China. Can anyone who’s been be more reassuring on the worth of adding that extension?

Hi Julia,

Many thanks again for this information. I've got several options to consider now, not the least being do I book with Travelsphere as a single traveller? I've always been reluctant to do that before, as I prefer being with a group of single people.

Have you had any feedback from single people travelling with Travelsphere, and if so what where their experiences? Maybe those reading this could also share with me any experiences they may have had under similar circumstances?

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike

Abbadave and I met on this site after we both booked the same Travelsphere trip to Peru last September.

There were 8 solo travellers on this trip and 4 or sometimes 5 of us tended to go off together in any spare time and had meals together. The other 3 went off separately and didn't mind eating alone and one of these 3 was a lady. Apart from the obvious safety factors there didn't seem any problems being alone anywhere. No one pestering for money-apart from children wanting you to take their pictures with alpacas for a sole (25p).

Most of the couples on the tour were friendly with our own JY group within!!

I chose the Travelsphere trip because it was 4 days longer and I saw much more of Peru. There were certainly a lot of very long days but I was happy with that, although one or two people likened it to an endurance test.

Rosario our Tour Manager was excellent and she was TM for both Travelsphere trips and the Just You trips to Peru last year.

Mike, if you look in the review section both Abbadave and I wrote reviews. There are also comments from Angie who had done the same trip as us two weeks earlier.

I hope that reading the reviews will help you make a decision.

Regards

Di

Hi Dina,

Thanks very much indeed for taking the time to share your experiences of the TS Peru trip, together with your thoughts about travelling solo within a TS group. I read the reviews from yourself and Abbadave with great interest, particularly the comments regarding the long days. I don't mind long days too much, providing there's plenty to see to keep me occupied and interested.

I met Angie (a lovely Scottish lady) last April in Jordan so I know her comments will also be valid.

I've also read numerous great reviews about TM Rosario Malca from other people who have done this holiday, so I'll have to ask for her specifically if I book this trip!

Many thanks again

Mike

Hi Mike I was hoping to book Peru in April but it was also cancelled. I've booked to go on 6th August with Travel sphere it has a good itinerary and has an Amazon add on; it may be worth a look? Marie

Hi Marie,

Thanks very much for replying to me; the itinerary does look good, particularly as it takes in Nazca albeit very briefly. I think there may be an opportunity to visit the Nazca lines whilst there although not enough time to take a flight over them unfortunately.

The 6th August date would be convenient for me so I may end up booking that. Are you taking the Amazon add-on?

Kind regards

Mike

Hi Mike

I do recommend Peru with the amazon add on it was a truly memorable trip, the long coach trips were interesting and certainly not boring stunning coastal scenery and lots of stops, we only spend around 20 - 30 mins at the Nazca line but for a small fee you can go up a viewing tower where you can get such good pictures, I think they don't do flights over now for security reasons so this time was ample enough, Travelsphere was a much better itinerary 4 days longer for not that much more, the amazon add on was certainly something different and quite an adventure to say the least but you don't have to do all the activities you can just chill at camp, di and me are now doing Vietnam with JY in November

Hi Mike and Marie

Our local guide in Peru or it may have been Rosie our TM in Peru told us flights over the Nazca lines had been stopped. I think they said it was something to do with the small planes being hijacked for drug smuggling. However, from the freestanding metal observation tower situated on the side of the Pan American Highway on which you travel you can get a good view of a couple of the lines. We took it in turns to go to the top of the tower because only 10 were allowed at a time.

Hope you book the trip and have a lovely time.

If you want to ask any questions I will try to answer them.

I have booked to go to Vietnam in November with two people I met in Peru plus another JY friend

Kind Regards

Diane
