Over the past few days I have been reading the various threads about the change of policy with regard to releasing the numbers booked on a tour, and it seems to me that two issues have arisen.

1.  Those who have to travel long distances to get to and from the departure airport need to have some assurance that the holiday will not be cancelled so that they do not incur uninsured losses for that travel and perhaps hotel accommodation.

  • How far in advance of the holiday is the 'Green Light' given? Before the final payment is made, or after? I am due to fly on Sunday and I have to travel tomorrow and stay in a hotel at the airport, so apart from the disappointment I would have uninsured losses.

  • Is JY prepared to pay to reimburse those who have uninsured losses if JY cancel the holiday? My insurance company has told me that they would expect the tour operator to pay those uninsured losses if they cancel the tour, but that they deal with each case separately.

2.  Those (like me) who prefer smaller groups want to know that they will not be overwhelmed by large numbers.

  • I totally understand this need to know - I am horribly impatient and hope to rent audio guides wherever I go, rather than hang around waiting for dawdlers.

  • I see no reason why JY should not state the upper number for each tour.

Now I'm off to pack!

Best wishes

Sam
