Both cash and card are widely accepted in Italy, so you could take either or both. We'd recommend taking at least a small amount of cash in case you want to buy anything from smaller retailers or businesses that might not have card machines or to give tips.

I'm booked on the trip to Pompeii, Sorrento and the Bay of Naples in October; will I need, or is it advisable to take cash or can I use a card everywhere?
