Good morning

Thank you for your message. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted across India and in tourist destinations, many hotels and businesses allow payments on international bank cards. You can exchange British pounds, US dollars, or euros once in India through authorised bureaux de change or banks, there are normally bureaux de changes in the airports where you can exchange money on arrival.

Best wishes

The Indian Rupee is a closed currency and I am due to travel on 9 October 2025 on the Spirit of India Tour. My question is whether to load up a post office travel card with US Dollars and exchange a small amount of GB Pounds on arrival at the airport into Indian Rupee?
