Thank you
Hi Sarah, there are no restrictions on what type of luggage you take on this trip. There is ample room on the vehicle to/from the airport and once at your lodge it sits there until it is time to leave 🙂  Ian
Good morning Can I ask on the Safari plains holiday did people take holdalls or suitcases for their luggage.
Hi Sarah,

Re vaccinations then over the years I have had just about every vaccination going and all were in date for my last trip. Medical issues are best discussed with your GP or the travel clinic at the GP as they can advise in relation to your own medical history.

Re malaria tablets then my understanding was that we were not in a malaria region so I didn't bother. The final choice however is yours. There are mossie nets over the beds in your tent.

Re tips we did two whip rounds. One for the two rangers and another for the hotel staff to be shared betyween them. The staff work shifts so those that were there on our last day were not necessarily those that were there earlier in the week. JY usually give guidelines re amounts in the final notes.

Ian

Hi Ian , Can I ask what inoculations did you need for the safari holiday and did you need malaria tablets. Also what is the general rule about gratuities for the holiday. Really looking forward to going on this safari in July.
Hi Sue & Roger,

Sue

I anticipate the Royal Morubisi will be fairly similar to Mabula & safari Plains. there might be slight changes to the times we go out depending on the sunrise and sunset and for Morubisi we are beside a river which was not a feature at Safari Plains. Hopefully we will see the Big 5 :-)

We did not get the lounge for Safari plains. We were with a different airline and according to the board we were the last flight out of that terminal that night. This is an earlier flight with a different airline so fingers crossed. On other long hauls with JY then the lounge is a good meeting place.

I am booked for 2nd September.

Roger

Good to hear from you and I dareseay our paths will cross one of these fine days.

Expect a review mid September! 🙂

Ian

Hi Sue

Rooms at Safari Plains are very close to the main building. Group size will depend on departure date - but we expect roughly 8-15 people.

In terms of flight upgrades, prices do vary with airlines based on a variety of factors so we would recommend that you give the team a call on 01858 415043 so that they can look into this for you. If you have any other questions please let us know.

Best wishes,

Just You

Hi Ian,

Thank you for repsonding, yes the inforamtion is very useful.

Are you hoping that the Royal Morubisi tour to be pretty much the same as last years tour and when are you planning to go in September?

Also silly question did you meet the other travellers in the airport lounge?

Regards

Sue

Hi Sue and Ian,

I have to say this new Morubisi tour looks intriguing.

Small numbers and exclusive use of the Lodge is always appealing.

Unfortunately, plans are already in place for this year, so I'll have to wait until early '26, if I do take the plunge.

With 8 days of Game Drives in Tanzania coming up in February and more in Namibia in July I might be 'safaried out' by the end of the year (if such a thing is possible !)

I'm sure you will post your usual excellent review when you return Ian, so I'll look forward to that as an aid to my decision making.

Wishing everyone a great 2025 full of adventures, wherever you're headed 🙂

Regards,

Roger

Hi Sue,

I did the SA safari adventure in November and enjyed it so much I have booked for Royal Morubisi in September.

There is a review for the safari adventure on the review page.

The JY reply relates to Royal Morubisi.

At Safari Plains/Mabula the tents were approx 10/15 yards apart and I was in tent #3 which was, probably, furthest away from the main buildings. Access to tents is via an unmade, but easily walkable, unmade track. I was uphill, on a slight incline, from the main buildings so a 2/3 minute walk from the tent to the buildings with an extra minute going back uphill. Nothing too energetic.

Hope this helps.

Ian
