I went in 2016 and you did not need a yellow fever jab as Zambia was declared to be safe from yellow fever. If you ever need a yellow fever jab, bear in mind that it is not recommended for people over a certain age or those who have had stem cell transplant treatment. In this case you just have to obtain a letter from your GP stating why you can't have the jab.

HiI'm booked to go to South Africa on 25th September 2018 and I'm finding the situation regarding a Yellow Fever vaccination very confusing. I've been to my GP surgery and they are not too clear either. The confusion lies in returning to South Africa after visiting Zambia and Botswana and whether or not I will need a certificate confirming I've had a yellow fever vaccination.Would you please advise if this has been necessary in the past.

I did this trip last year and you do not need yellow fever as none of the countries you are travelling through has a yellow fever status. Although it is possible that this could change at any time.
Good morning, Unfortunately we are unable to give advice on vaccinations as we say check with your GP, which has obviously not worked in this case. Other options are www.gov.uk/travelaware or www.fitfortravel.nhs.ukKind regardsMattThank you Matt. I've decided to err on the side of caution and get a yellow fever vaccination - at least I know I'll be covered.RegardsCarol

Thank you Matt. I've decided to err on the side of caution and get a yellow fever vaccination - at least I know I'll be covered.
