Hi Folks

Thats good news JY seen sense at last, personally how many are on a tour, the ages or the F/M ratio to me i am not interested in just that the tour goes ahead and i always book many months in advance, so far with my three JY tours i have been fortunate to have around the 21 mark on a tour which is a nice number size to get to know your fellow travellers, when i went with Travelsphere to Peru there were nearer 40 on the trip and getting to know everyone was pretty much a non starter

it is nice to know that those who wish can still ask these questions

all the best

Dave

Perhaps it would be a good idea to put in the brochure , whether a holiday is going to be a small group or whether the holiday will be a big group, because this information appears to be important  for a lot of people when booking. I personally feel as a customer that I would like to make an informed choice when I book and that there would be a lot of factors that I would take in to consideration before booking and size of the group would be one of them , I have always felt that this forum has been very helpful and informative ,so I think it is a shame if you now are being told not to give out this information, I can understand why people are feeling unhappy about this
Hi folks,

Julia has responded to the "Group Sizes" thread that this policy has now been reversed!  I am delighted that we will be able to ask various questions about the group make up again and this has restored my faith in JY.

All the best,

Bob

Sue2. I expect there to be a maximum number a company will book on a tour , and I expect that maximum number to be published in the brochure , or given to me if I ask.

Most other companies do this. It helps me to decide if I will book that tour as I will not travel in large groups.

Obviously numbers may be less when you travel if the tour isn't a sell out.

Hello Mildred,

You say that 'this is a decision that has been carefully thought through' and that 'it is a decision that has had to be made'. But this STILL doesn't explain the rationale behind the decision!

Like many others, I understand that you are just the messenger, but none of your replies on this subject answer the question 'WHY' to anyone's satisfaction. Pease could you give more clarity on this issue, because without that, people will get increasingly upset. They NEED to understand why this decision has been made.

Meanwhile, you can add my name to the growing number of valued customers who feel an increasing sense of disquiet over this decision. I personally would not like to join a group of 35+ due to the issues already raised by another community member; porterage difficulties, time to get checked in at hotels, getting to know everybody, lack of space in hotel elevators, increased possibility of people not being in a particular place on time leading to possible amendments to the agreed tour itinerary, etc etc.

If (as you often like to point out) JY always listens to its customers, then I hope that the considerable number of negative responses you have received on this issue will lead to this decision being reversed forthwith.

Regards

Mike

Good Morning Mike,

I absolutely understand your frustration regarding this new change but I am afraid that all I can tell you at this time is that there has been a change of policy. I assure you that all your feedback is being monitored by the managers.

Kind Regards,

Mildred.

Hi,

I totally agree with Mikew, as I would also prefer the information given before making a decision to book, thanks.

Hi

I totally agree with the other posters on this thread.  I have this morning paid for a trip I am taking with you later this year but feel it will probably be my last.  I'm not so fussed about everyone's ages or how the numbers are split between men and women, it is not being able to know the number of people on the tour.  I am only comfortable with around 20 people [and appreciate that's just me] but the smaller the group the better for me.  I can't help but agree with what SarahS has said upthread, in that you can add extra passengers if the tour is selling well.  Yes, that is good commercial business but please be honest and let us know the thinking behind your "decision".  Trust me, it's not a good one.

I understand why people say they want to know how many on a trip. Especially on a tour, but surely if you ask on booking and are told 25 so you go ahead. What are you going to do? Keep checking numbers and then you find a couple of weeks before the number has gone up to 40 . Then what? Are you going to cancel? As someone else pointed out, the USA trips are usually big whereas the short haul usually smaller. Unless you are going to wait until the last minute to book I think you just have to accept that there may not be the exact group number you would like.
Hi

I also would like to add that I too feel the need to have a certain level of information about a trip before I sign up to a holiday.

If the holiday has the potential to have a large number of people on it I would avoid booking.

Surely the Just You customers are owed an explanation as to why this decision has been made, especially as I see it as a change of policy for us and one which could impact further booking with yourselves

Kind regards

Janet
