Good suggestion JR but I don't think Gatwick will suit a lot of people particularly for a short break as the trip down and usual need for an overnight stay or two really bumps up the cost of the holiday.  This is what deterred me from doing the Bordeaux Gourmet Break

Sorry about that, but as I live near Gatwick I only pick holidays that go from there !

I agree with Jonah. I live in Scotland and would only be interested in a short break if local departures were available.
